When did Farragut’s become so toothless?

Haven’t been in an incidence with one for a while but recently did and noticed they hardly did anything to my shields even when I was targeted by one. Did a bit of searching and there were comments that they were nerfed because Cmdr’s were complaining that they were too powerful.

That’s right. The most powerful snd dangerous ship in the game was nerfed because they were too powerful and dangerous. Surely that’s the point of them?

When did this happen?

So that's why they are ineffective against Thargoids ...

Because Federals succumbed to the popularity vote of the mob.

Honestly, I think they were weak before, and then they got a buff.

Used to be you could just mash the primary generator and shut it down within seconds, leaving it powerless to fire weapons. Now you can't target the primary generator anymore, and need to take out turrets.

It's still dangerous if you fly at about 1.5km away where most of it's turrets can hit you, but close proximity is king for avoiding it's fire. Also, in CZs, they tend to target other NPCs rather than you.

I'm not sure they've ever been nerfed, except for that time they were accidentally allowed to move, which was a bug they fixed.

They've never been particularly tough...a pair of small ships or one medium was enough to reliably route one before Engineers. Post Engineers they are a total joke.

I can Rout one really easily in my Vette if one turns up in a CZ.
It was really hard, until I fitted a Turreted Laser to help me find the Heat Sinks. Spotting the target was the hard part, now its easy.

Huh. I just recall them being this dominating force, now they’re merely a distraction. You can’t even destroy them if you get hull and literally everything else to zero % - they just jump out at 0%

Imperial Caps are even less potent. In the past if a CZ had both the Imp would be out first.

Yeah....they're limp compared to the Farragut... though there was also a bug in the past where most of the Imp Cap's weapons wouldn't fire at all :/ At least that's fixed...

There is a difference between powerful and overpowered. If the Farragut was realistically balanced then no commander in any ship short of a shield monster Cutter would even last longer than a few seconds.

I always wanted these capital ships to be more powerful, or at least more effective than they are. They can hardly hit anything.
The Star destroyers in X-Wing (vs TIE-fighter) where much more scary to deal with. I wish we would see more fleet combat like that in ED.

Well they're netiher overpowered nor even powerful atm. To be frank they never were much of a danger but if you were particularly careless they could take you down one ring or two. With the Engineers however even that is impossible now.

They have never been a danger, could be that they are focusing NPC's, but their useless crew doesn't seem to figure out that one ship is shooting all their heat relays...or whatever it's called.

I quite liked trenchrunning them heatsinks with my Missile Viper back when they were introduced. Had to move close and fast. But with engineers you just have to park next to it and press and hold a button for some time.

Yeah, after a bugged CZ left me with two hostile capital ships to deal with, I found both did naff all damage.

IMHO, there should be as dangerous as a Cyclops, if you don't keep moving.
They should have ultra powerful hitscan weapons, which track you with some sort of targeting laser, and when it strikes your hull, it fires some sort of class 8 railgun at that point a fraction of a second later.
If you're still there when it fires, you soon won't be. Lol
If you've ever played any of those side/top shooters, they always have that sort of insta-kill super weapon with dodgy tracking. Lol

They should also have packhound batteries, but you're warned when they're locking on to you.
