When did NPCs get so suicidal?

My ex-SLF pilot's bio' said she came from Leesti so I made the effort to fly her back to Leesti and off-hire her in George Lucas station.

How pathetic is that?!

In a game where we're already pretending to be spacemen in the future, that doesn't sound bad at all, really. Old Duck had a post with a fairly long list of self-imposed restrictions in order to enjoy the game more, so if it works, do it.

How civilised.
I would've taken her on a short pleasure cruise in a shieldless Keelback. I would open a bottle of champagne and start reminiscing about the good times we had, casually strolling over to the ship's sole escape pod at one point, gently stroking its access hatch with my fingers, staring into the distance with a sigh. "All things must come to pass" I would say, shedding a tear.
And then I'd drop her off at Leesti I guess, I'm not a monster you know.

If that's "working as intended" it's utterly bonkers.

I mean, in a Corvette it does make perfect sense to move toward an opponent slowly.
It's got two honking great lasers on the roof and my objective is to creep into range of a target, open fire and do catastrophic damage to the target as quickly as possible - so even if it flies straight toward me it'll be debris before it arrives.
Yes, it was not down to the ship type. Every enemy was reacting like that, if under fire only by my ship. Even a wing of three ships, just stopped at some distance from my ship and kept firing, while I was playing "turrets in space".

And what's with the slow-speed "ramming"?
Is that supposed to be some kind of "last great act of defiance"?
"You've destroyed my ship but I'm going to scratch your paintwork!!!"
This is sort of an evergreen, right? It was way worse at some point, where FAS and larger ships tried to hug your nose while under full fire. But still, it is completely .

2.3 this all started happening. The npc ai acts in acordance to your controll input. If you know what you are doing you can mind controll the npcs into doing exactly what you want, at least within reason.

If you watch closely at the thrusters of the npcs it can some times feel like the buttons you press controll there ship.

If you just stare at an npc ship launched fighter it will never attack you it will just avoid your gaze. Like it can feel the reticles on its hull lol.

The jedi reflexes to avoid incoming projectiles from any and all directions if possable. Unless you cut down there vector choices buy flying a cetain way and then they will basicaly fly into your shots lol
