When did they capital ships to battles?

Cap ships tend to show up at a lot of CZs.

Really turns up the heat on the fight.

It's been thing for as long as I can remember.

It was all fun and games till some noobs became Elite by just parking ontop of it with a turretboat..

Capital ship cz have been in game about 2 years now. They were added in beta 2 for elite dangerous month or two before release of elite dangerous on 16.12.2014. They have always been in but are rare as the conditions for them to spawn don't happen that often. In some even more rare chases both sides have capital ships on cz and at least twice i have seen video about cz with multiple capital ships on both sides.

Posted this a few months back. I doubt they are thee now, but this battle had 2 opposing Capital Ships in battle. (Skip to about 2 mins in)

They're not exactly rare, they just require certain conditions. I read it somewhere though have forgotten since, but I think it's like a 1 in 5 chance of one spawning in a CZ if one warring faction is empire or fed. So even in a CZ of empire vs feds you have a fairly low chance of both sides spawning one. The spawn chance is locked per CZ, so if it appears in a CZ it always will, and rezoning won't make it appear in one that doesn't initially spawn one.

You have a better chance of seeing it in a High Intensity CZ as opposed to a Low since the ship amount is capped in a Low CZ. High CZ's don't have a ship cap which would warrant the appearances of capital ships for the occasional clean sweep.
