When exploring do you have to land at a base in order to quit the game?

Is it just me who kinda has to find a planet to land on to log off while exploring?

I know its cool to log of in space or in your SRV but it doesn't quite feel right.

maybe try and find a quiet B & B for the night?. I had the same issue with the first MMO i ever played!

Nope, log off anywhere. Space, planet, supercruise, docked, undocked.

In most cases you'll just start where you left off.
But if you log off in supercruise, you'll log back in, in normal space.

For some reason, it just seems wrong to quit in supercriuse, even though I've don it before. Usually, I just drop and stop wherever I'm at before quitting.

Even now I won't quit the game when in a system containing a White Dwarf or Neutron Star.

A couple of years back, a game bug crashed the game when in these systems & the reload always put you inside the jet stream, taking some extreme damage & you were lucky to be able to escape.

So I park up in other systems (just in case) but also away from the orbital plane, never near a Planet unless I'm reloading within a couple of hours.

Had problems logging out while in an SRV before, logged back in and my SRV exploded because it had run out of fuel.

Respawned in ship but one SRV down on my trip into the black :(

Nope, that's me too. All the way to Beagle and back and bedded down planet-side every night.

Extra Credits covered the topic of save places in games. I forget what they labeled the feeling that you needed to be in a certain place to save (log off) of the game.

Been wondering the same thing for ages ... I mean, I know you *can* just switch off whilst you’re still in space but it never feels particularly *safe* ... I’m also planning on going out exploring once the new Q4 stuff drops - guess it’s something we’ll just have to get used to!

Just be wary that after a few days of no play you can log in, find yourself floating in empty space thinking, eh... what was I doing ? o7

I soemtimes get that feeling in stations too. The only advantage of stations is that feeling of 'what am I doing here?' is rapidly replaced with 'what can I do here?'

At the very beginning i thought the same way, but now...the chance somebody meets you in this short time where your ship is still visible...i became lazy.

What i do is looking for recources anyway and i start searching for interesting planets at the end of the session and stay after collecting materials on the planet an quit.
