when is murder not murder?

When you join a power. That's when!

simply fly to a different powers space in a wing of combat ships and kill with impunity. Dont worry they are all enemy so the po po wont be on there way and there will be no awkward 7 day bounty to worry about, go show all those traders what death feels like ;)

10 powers one you belong to so thats 90% of the power players to kick in the teeth, who needs anarky systems lol exept for slave traders ha ha

Maybe the law should apply to invaders attacking you in your powers space out side goal zones or something as I have noticed alot of the above over the last few days. Or is this the way its meant to be? It seems open to alot of abuse

Agreed but what about those consequences david keeps on about? Lol thata guy with the itchy nipples must be in his element right now

This is the main reason I'm looking to sign up to a power.

Sweet murder... now with less hassle afterwards! Legitimate PvP was so hard to find before. I'm hyped to be able to kill for a reason now. And excited that the someone could try the same against me!

Exactly what I just experienced, and leaves a sour taste.

3 Denton Patreus pilots were winged up at a control system in Archon Delaine's space.
I was trying to undermine their fortify since I fly for Pranav Antal, but I couldn't even find one slave ship to liberate before a Patreus Python player interdicted me and immediately opened fire.

They have no reason to be in that part of space, except to kill indescriminately. No tie in with PP, no monetary gain, no faction gains...just there to murder with ZERO penalties.

Yeah...where are those super harsh penalties they talked about? These 3 guys don't seem to give a crap.

It makes sense, that one is allowed kill enemy powers' ships in one's own power's territory. But outside your own territory, local law should apply as usual. Why would a faction not belonging to your own power give you any priviledges for being a member of that power?

It's probably an oversight/bug. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Yet another good reason to stay neutral - at least initially. At the moment I have good RP reasons for doing so, since I view all 10 possible patrons with extreme distrust but by not aligning with a power I dont get any benefit but at the same time don't become a target for 9 times as many enemies as friends I made. If an agent of one of the powers wants to pay me to do something, that's fine. Just so long as they clearly understand my loyalty is to their credits not their patron and will run out when the money does.

But with local faction bounties, it doesn't matter if local law applies. The cops of only one system will be after them, which is irrelevant while in a wing. We need major faction crime reporting, else crime response is irrelevant.

Except for the bounties you accrue, making you a valuable target to anybody with a kill warrant scanner. Also killing members of another power is not pointless, it's 15 merits so long as it is in a fortify or expansion system of any power I believe.

Really I think it's rather brilliant of FD to do this. It will bring life back to bounty hunting now.

Bounty hunting people who misbehave is in general a good idea. It's just a pity that time zones mean different game experience for different players. A bounty hunter in New Zealand is going to be disappointed.

But you were trying to undermine their system ,isnt that enough reason?

Edit - oh , I see you mean you were trying tundermine Delaine's system - ignore me.

This hasn't been my own experience with Undermining. Were you in an Anarchy system at the time?

When I've been Undermining in Sol against Hudson (I pledged for Lavigny-Duval), I was racking up 6000cr murder Bounties with Federal Congress for each of Hudson's Federal Logistics ships I killed. I've now got +400k cr Bounty with Federal Congress in Sol.

You also commit murder and get a Bounty for killing other Power ships in the Control Systems, unless you are pledged to the Power who Controls that specific system.

So if I'm pledged to Lavigny-Duval, and go to Sol to Undermine Hudson, I will be marked as an ENEMY from the point of view of Hudson supporters in Sol.

*They* can kill me freely, not the other way round. Likewise if whilst in Sol I see a supporter of a third Power like Mahon, they will only be marked as an ENEMY from the point of view of Hudson supporters, I as a Lavigny-Duval supporter flying through Hudson's Sol will see everyone as Clean, Mahon supporter included.

You are only meant to be free to attack rival Power supporters when they invade the territory of your own Power.

That is what I understood. OP misinterpreted the PP rules.

Mabe I have been in anarky stsems with out realiseing it. Whenever I have gone back for revenge they were not wanted. I will check tonight and have a look but im shure all my controll systems are not anarky. I have some humble pie at the reddy...
