Can you vulcanism on non-atmospheric planets? Wouldn't an active volcanic planet expell enough gasses to form an atmosphere of some sort?
Not necessarily, there are many reasons why active volcanism may not form an atmosphere, the planet may be to small to have sufficient gravity to hold onto the material, The planet may be too close to it's star and as such may be bombarded by stellar winds of sufficent magnitude to rip away the atmosphere, the planet could not be sufficently active to create anything more than a trace atmosphere, you have to remember that most planets that we consider "airless" have trace atmospheres.

My guess would be the end of the season.
It would make sens to start with planet content and to end with the last bit of content.
And my guess is also that the tech used for that sort of effect will be used in what ever is in season 3.
I hope so.I can't help but to wonder what we could actually do on a volcanic planet. Seismic research perhaps?
