When some feels he is loosing in a combad and logs out

Imagen at least for now ( because we don't have the game yet ) you are flying and are doing your on thing , than suddenly out of the unknowing there is another pilot who is the mood to fight you and who likes to eat you for breakfast ( at least that is what he thinks ) at one or two points in ze battle the looser feels he will not make it to fight against you and the cheater logs out of the game to not to loose his ship or cargo .
My question is... is this low way of getting out of a fight possible and if so what or which are the consequences of his action ?

Its called Combat Logging and is generally viewed as cheating by the community.

When you try and log out during combat, a countdown timer will start to prevent an immediate log out, but if your ship is tough enough, it will log you out after the countdown has expired.

In short, yes it is possible, but don't do it, its just not cricket.

This is a long-standing and very debated issue. Yes it is possible (I suppose by closing the application, without going through the menu screen). No it's not good. No there is (yet) any kind of punishment, but Frontier are investigating a more refined Crime and Punishment system that will allow to identify serial combat-loggers and punish them.

oh god i was hoping we at ps4 tower wouldn't have this debate because its compilcated question? not everyone who leaves a fight by exiting is combat logging as i could just be a problem with internet connection, but then you have the few players who leave and are combat logging but say it was there connection and get away with it. and that is the problem for FDev they can't tar everyone who exits in the middle of combat as a combat logger, but they can't punish people who do because there is no way to get solid evidence to say they did, unless the people who combat log on purpose are stupid enough to confess

That honestly sounds like the most sissiest thing someone can do lol be a man (or woman) and if you're getting destroyed just accept your fate

there is not much to debate, as there is a an official statement of FDEV:

“combat logging” is when a Commander ungracefully exits the game (e.g. using ALT + F4 then shutting down the game process) to avoid defeat, destruction and damage.

Commanders might use this exploit the moment they are interdicted or the moment before they are about to be destroyed.

Although this is flagged primarily as a multiplayer concern, the issues (and solutions) apply equally to the single player game.

First things first: we do consider this an undesirable exploit. It’s not “part of the game”.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/105778-“Combat-Logging”-Update

this applies to solo mode as well as any multiplayer mode.

if you experience a player combat logging report him or her ingame or via support.frontier.co.uk

have in mind, that an awfull lot of situation can look like combat logging (from instancing issues to network issues).

exiting the game via the menu, which comes with a timer, isn't considered combat logging by FDEV.

FD's view is:

Exit via the menu and subsequent timer is not cheating
Exit due to a crash/instancing error or similar is not cheating

Ending the process is cheating
Pulling a cable is cheating

It's seen as bad form whatever the exit method.

It seems to be a delicate question and thanks for clarifying this issue .
Yes there are two possibility's , one who is cheating and one by a bad connection through the internet .
Never the less sad that this can be done .

Being interdicted isn't bad, m'kay.
Being destroyed in the process even when you offered no resistence by a psychotic is because, being a phychotic is bad, m'kay. Should I do it deliberately or it happens accidently, while being interdicted by a griefer (phychotic), and they want to spill some salt, fine with me. On one hand their feeling are hurt, vs my ship and contents destroyed. All they need is a kerchief to dry their crying eyes, I've got to spend considerable time and money that I've was allocating for other things on a rebuy or start from the beginning all over again.

Rob me once, shame on you, rob me twice, shame on me, rob me thrice, your psychotic, I'm out of there.

In real life, should I find myself in a situation such as an interdiction, where as some psychotic wants not only to rob me but cause damage even tough I am compliant. Then it not cheating when I hit'em with an tire iron, brick, hammer, baseball bat etc. After all it's not a sanctioned fight where as there are rules. Ther are no rules in love nor war!

Combat logging is not encouraged by FDev and there are provisions in place to prevent this, and if someone is found to be consistently combat logging, my understanding is that Fdev reserve the right to take actions against that person which may include some limited access restrictions e.g. 24 hour ban.

This is not dissimilar to the old situation in our Freelancer server - nor is it a new issue in MOBA games. Single instances are hard to definitively prove - patterns are more obvious. This is part of the ongoing Fdev karma system currently in development.

Hopefully player blocking may help, but if in doubt - assume everyone is a nutcase and don't leave the docking hub. At the end of the day if you can't rebuy - don't fly - it's too risky.

Would be great if the dev's from Elite dangerous could find out a way where they can separate the losers who leave ze battle because they feel that they never gonna win and those people who have a disconnection from the internet
