When the game crashes it takes my internet with it!

So yesterday i had issues with the game, like many of us had, but the weird thing is that when the game crashed it would disconnect my cumputer from the router. I run a cabled connection to my router, and the only way to get internet back to it would be by restarting the PC.
This is still happening today.

Is this a coincidence? maybe the game is causing some sort of overload to my router so it thinks it is being attacked? Or maybe it is a known issue?

I guess it's the other way around.
For whatever reason you lose the internet connection and as a result, Elite crashes.
