I used to be scared to death about those gankers, but now I try and hunt them. Sometimes it cost me a rebuy, but that is also a fresh repaint.
How do you use pips that fast? It's one of the things I never learned to master. Is there a third party plugin that can be set up for easier pip management than normal, and is it legal to use it in the game?
Pip macros, for example by voice attack
or other joystick curve programs.
Pretty much essential for PvP (both curves and Pips), when using a hotas.

Thanks! That kind of explains why I find it hard to manage pips in the middle of a PvP fight. Well, it seems fixable, and if it's legal, it's a nobrainer. BRB as they say...
Took me some time to get it working with voice attack
Got it working using the Logitech X52 "software" I already had installed. Clever that! Now why didn't I do that before? I've lost many a PvP fight trying to get my pips right but resetting them instead (using joystick HAT). Now I can use HAT down for something else. I can even set up different modes for combat and mining.

How does that square with this statement from frontier? Have they ever clarified their stance beyond this? I don't necessarily have a problem with this and other forms of light macro use, but I do wish they wouldn't wink and nod at some uses and not others.
edit: relevant part of Fdev quots so you don't have to click through: "Automation is not permitted in Elite, we class automation as more than one action in game per button press, this includes fleet carrier automation."
Does FDev care about botting?
That's a heck of an accusation to make That there are accounts shown in the AOS report on botting in Elite Dangerous currently passing through the systems we think there be something fishy happening in is a verifiable fact. That they are bots, is of course not possible to know.
