When the Thargoids become Targetoids

And here we are desperately scrambling for the tech to take on just these lone Interceptors.

That's exactly what we don't do. We don't desperately scramble for tech. It's somehow already there. And, yeah, I know, AEGIS has "experience" with the Thargoids.
But: Day 1 - Can't hurt them Day 2 - Throw us some mats Day 2.5 - Jazz Hands - Guns & Scanners is not desperately scrambling. It's a missed chance imho. Researching, producing, distributing, proto-testing those weapons could have been a story & lots of CGs.

There will be challenge enough for all. And a story to go with it, I expect.

As for peace and negotiation and such... do you really think the Thargoids take us seriously enough, right now, to bother? They see us as a nuisance. As gnats to be ignored, or swatted when we get too annoying. We will have to demonstrate to them that we are not so easily dismissed before the idea of actually talking to us ever crosses their minds.

If the whole challenge is getting better guns from AEGIS to shoot bigger ships, then that's not a challenge. Plus I never said anything about peace and negotiation.
We can't even communicate with them (...which would be another great community goal)

If the Thargoids didn't want conflict, it wouldn't happen. Their hyperspace capabilities are so far superior to ours, they could do whatever they want and avoid contact at will. How long have they been doing just that? They are fighting us now because they believe they have something to gain by it. We will have to disabuse them of that notion first.

As far as I can see they at least at the moment seem to be searching for specific resources and the occasional escape pod. And blast the odd fleet that shoots at them or gets too cocky. They don't go after us really, they go after stuff that is or has been theirs.

So - I agree this is not the end of the story, it's the tip of the iceberg. But the tip of the iceberg has been melted rather hastily. That's how I feel.
And that doesn't make me right, but it also doesn't make me wrong.

Elite Dangerous Patch 2.4 was one of the topics in our Podcast today and both my partner in the podcast and the viewers that play Elite agreed that the scanner and weapons felt rushed after just 2 days.

It wasnt just 2 days. We first encountered these things forever ago via hyperdictions. The CG to add the weapons and scanners had started by the time 2.4 came out, and if you ask me, it took longer than expected. You have to understand, 2.4 was merely an update to add all the necessary data to the game. This story has already been unfolding for months, even if we couldn't meaningfully interact with them yet.

Oh, I know the pre-story. I was there. Plus at ruin sites, etc.
