When to expect new update or content?

Hello gusy, now it is about 2 month ago that claire's sanctuary was released as a dlc. I am going to ask me when we can expect another dlc maybe a small one like a new dinosaur pack or something like this. No news at all about the games progress is going to be dissapointing.

I think we may get an update/patch within September. Claire's Sanctuary has been released on the 18th of June, so it will be a good 3 months to allow the devs to develop something new and ready for release. I don't think it will be major compared to 1.8, probably a dinosaur pack and new feature in the game via update with a lot of bug fixes.

I am happy to say just last week, a whole lot of bugs have been confirmed by frontier via the issue tracker, so we may be getting an update soon to patch most of the bugs in the game.

My earliest predictions would be sometime this week. If not, then I'm almost certain there will be something next month. When they announce something, it's something that they are confident the up coming content they plan to release for the game will make it at a scheduled time.

They aren't an indie team who reveals something that may face whatever over time that may keep their goals from happening for god knows how long with or without clarification, as I've seen plenty of indie game teams that do that, they reveal and announce things as surprises with complete confidence when they are completely ready, as what any mainstream video game studio company like Frontier Developments themselves would do. Content exceptions can exist for anyone as cases of vaporware or schedule delays, but exceptions are exceptions.

In regards to DLCs, I think there will be at least one or two small DLCs like dinosaur packs, along with patches with general updates, bug fixes, and/or new free features albeit at a small scale. Bigger DLCs tend to be within a period of several months of development, considering how much work would be added within them along with huge updating patches with various bug fixes, general updates, and new free content simultaneously.

I would think a new DLC pack, either a dinosaur pack or a new story pack) would release somewhere around November or December, in time for the Christmas shop. As for something that would be more upcoming, I believe an update would arrive in September, probably towards the end, and would deliver the usual bug fixes and perhaps, if the rumours are true, Sandbox mode for all of the islands.

Rumors? Which rumors? I missed that

Edit: To answer OP... I think something will come out soon, likely sometime in september, but I doubt it will be something substantial. The 4chan leak, which so far has proven accurate, predicted a big DLC for december, which also makes sense (even if only because it matches previous schemes from FD), even if it's contents are not accurately foretold. Considering FD previous behaviour and longlasting secrecy, I'd say the next big DLC will indeed be out around december with maybe some small dino pack in between (probably end-september/october).

Here is the rumor for sandbox for in all islands.
And here is the rumor for the 3 potential DLC.

Thanks!

I'd love to see all maps available in Sandbox mode, but I doubt it will happen. They said Nublar was intended to be the sandbox and so far they haven't changed the original game concept that much. But it would also be great to have a separate mode for Sandbox.

The three DLC rumour I had already heard about but it hadn't me that excited tbh, because it could be anything, maybe just a jingle-jam thing again or something for consoles only. It's nice to know the game is still being worked on, though -sigh-

I think there is plenty of hope to see sandbox mode on all islands, it has been brought up so many times in the past that I would be surprised if they went over that feature entirely. The islands are great but we all would love to play in those areas without limitations, and I think Frontier are seeing into it, but we have to wait and see. It would probably be like sleeping, like how it was not implemented on launch as we would be confused when the dinosaur is either sleeping or dying. Things always have the chance to change, we just need to communicate that with them.

With DLC, I am curious where they could go with it. The 2 story DLC released so far made the game feel whole with paleobotany, tours, hybrids, and advanced genetic modifications. At this point, besides the potential 1993 dlc, it is getting harder to predict what's next, and I like to see what's in store and be surprised like how secrets of Dr.Wu was announced from nowhere.

I don't think there will be any console exclusives, I hope not. It was a bummer to have the ankylosaur vivid skin be a steam exclusive, but I do think that we should all be getting the same game bar the pre order skins before the end of the games' 3 year support. :)

I think that getting sandbox or all maps is quite plausible. If we consider the 1993 DLC to be a real thing. It will likely be a separate campaign like the Claire DLC was. Universal and Frontier seem very committed to keep things accurate to the franchise. So we'd likely won't see JP skins and models in the main campaign at all. I would guess you wouldn't only be able to access those in the DLC campaign, and possibly in challenge mode.
But here's where sandbox for all maps comes in. If players do not get any 1993 JP content in the main campaign, they would still want to use those assets for their own parks outside the DLC campaign. I would guess that the separate sandbox could be an option for this.
Though this of course is all highly hypothetical of course. But yeah, I think we're likely getting a small DLC soonish and a larger 1993 DLC along with sandbox for all maps at the end of the year.

I would love to have the new sandbox as a separate mode, Mainly as it will not be tied to a campaign save. I believe with 1.8, console players started to get a much expanded save system where we have 64 blocks to save with for all of our gameplay. If campaign save costs 8 blocks, Claire's sanctuary costs 2 blocks, and challenge mode costs 1 block, then I would love to have the ability to save multiple sandbox islands if we could have them separated from the campaign mode and 1 block per island.

But regarding information, I do hope we would hear something soon in september with gamescom being over. Plus I am curious if the battle at big rock short will come out soon as well, as I believe there may be some tie in content with that short similar to the jurassic world alive additions.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I couldn't understand all the save-linking between modes and a separate Sandbox save is definitively something long requested. This could be the real motive to implement it finally.

There are loads of other things much more requested than that. In fact I think it would be cool if they released polls or something to clarify things and people's priorities, because I could have sworn this was not one of the continuously requested features. At least, I haven't seen it in a while now.

Anyway, I agree that having more maps in Sandbox would greatly enliven the game. I really can swear that as a Sandbox fan =D

Didn't get the sleeping parallel, though. How could you possibly mistake sleeping with dying? As long as I remember, dying dinosaurs didn't even lie down, and they still don't. In fact, in the base game dinosaurs didn't lie at all, the just roamed around endlessly.

You would have those problems fixed instant if you played on PC ;D

Jokes aside, I also hoped maybe Gamescom had something to offer but none of my fav games were addressed this year. Battle at big rock is apparently posponed so I wonder if any of these 3 DLC is linked to it but it seems likely. Either way, since the short was posponed, chances are it's own DLC will be posponed also and since there is no release date for the first, it may well be next year...

Woah! I just thought of something.

[wears a tinfoil hat]

If update 1.7 came out on the 17th of April.
and update 1.8 came out on the 18th of June.
Then update 1.9 will come out on the 19th of September!

There are so many small things to add to this game that could be implemented monthly to keep people interested. For example, monthly updates could be simple things, like the ability to build gates over paths. I just wish the frequency of updates would increase, even if they're small.

reposting this from the 1.9 announcement thread...

fun fact, BiS pointed out that there are still three unknown DLCs coming out. It was originally thought that one is for presumably the big DLC possibly in December (Most speculate a '93 dlc), the second possibly being an herbivore dino pack (Pachyrhinosaurus, mussaurus, charnosaurus) and the last was thought to be a battle at big rock pack with the nasuto in it. Interesting enough after the 1.9 update it turns out that this is a separate unexpected release altogether meaning that there are still three dlcs coming up.
