I think i do, however i don't know what current engine is capable and could it support fps for instance.
I don't believe they will switch to new engine in season3, never seen any dev did that in the middle of game developmrent, it is easier to make new game. I was just replying to previous comment.

Sometimes studios do switch engine mid-development. Usually those projects dont go very well. *cough*Star-citizen-lumberyard*cough*

Devs avoid reworking their Engine like the plague.
Only very few did it.

They used to tell us stuff way ahead of time. People however failed to understand the concept of non-concrete information and that the possibility of plans changing in game development is 100%. And then Frontier saw the reaction to Hello Games running out of money and being crucified. And now we are here. Where no devs outside of those who stupidly risk it with open development share anything about their games anymore. Good Job gaming community. You ruin everything.

Season 3will come with a new engine. It takes time to build hence the delay.

They are not going to write an entire new framework and IDE, just to add a few features to the game. They will simply add to what is needed to their already made engine.

Um, I don't think the Cobra engine is doing anywhere, it's here to stay.

They are best leaving as is. Look what they did to the Cobra MkIV

It's April, so the soonest we would see 2.4 is July/August. Based on some things that have been said, it's possible that our actions could trigger 2.4, and if that's true, then it might come sooner than anyone thinks, despite what the Community Manager just said in this thread. What's more likely though, is that 2.4 will be around the Christmas season, perhaps September/October. It's a shame that 3.0 will most likely miss that window, but I just don't see it coming this calendar year. The current content needs time to bake in the live environment for a while, before the new hotness arrives.

Regarding the Mystery IP:

As I recall, the statement said two things; an enduring movie franchise, and Frontier's expertise, so:

The IP is most likely Star Wars.

They'll just release a version of Elite Dangerous with Star Wars ships called Elite Star Wars Dangerous.
