When will the system flip over to Federation allegiance? It still shows Independent on the system map.

The intent for flipping it to Fed (besides the embarassment of Hudson's HQ not already being Fed...) is to gain the weapons discount, security bonus, and increase Fed patrols in the system. Right now you can't get to Hudson or Gresley without being interdicted once or twice by NPC opposing factions.
