When you know it's time to step away from the computer

Just had one of those D'Oh moments ....

Relocated to a new area so I was flat out doing missions to get allied with the Controlling Faction. Data runs, delivery runs, even a couple of massacre missions, all relatively easy and quick and all within one jump of my new home. So there I was just completed another data mission going out, came back with cargo. Landed, got rid of the cargo, jumped on the Mission Board, selected two new data missions and headed out again - hardly time to take a breath! Exited the mail slot, quick glance at the directional compass indicated my jump point was behind the station, started the slow journey around the Coriolis station, my focus glued on the compass and beginning to think this is taking ages. It was only when I realised I had passed the mail slot for the third time that it suddenly dawned on me I hadn't set a destination, just been flying circles around the damn station for 15 minutes.

Quick check of the time left for the missions (hours to go, easy peasy), requested docking, back inside, and gave myself a mandatory 1 hour break. Thinking of buying a timer so I know when to have 'driver/reviver' break lol

Oh snap

And also mistaking super cruise for hyper jump, done this a couple of times, wondering why I've not jumped yet.

Worse actually doing this after scooping the last star in your route then nearly crashing into the same star several times looking for the next jump.

Of course I have never done that.

We've all screwed up at one time or another in Elite D OP, but, as you say, at least you can step away for an hour when needed........wife and kids though man....what a mistake, somebody help me, HELP ME, they won't leave me alone, I don't wanna fix the garden fence after the storm...I don't wanna do years 5 and 7 homework again, it was boring enough first time round...................AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

.....<checks over shoulder to make sure missus and kids aren't looking at screen>

"yeah, all good"

This is why I don't have, and never want, kids.

My cat is demanding enough as it is. Lol

My girlfriend always asks me to do chores.

I sleep instead. Lol

That was funny!

While I have exited a station in the past without selecting a destination it did not take me 15 minutes to figure out why the target for my destination never showed up on the hud.

Why do you fly around the station?

As long as the jump destination is not obscured by a planet I usually speed out of the letter box full throttle, boost straight into the void and then turn off FA in order to turn my nose to my target destination while still gliding straight away from the station.

When Mass Lock drops, Friendship Drive is activated and off I go...

This. It's fun to do in a Cutter or Corvette as well, as long as you remember your ship is drifting so you'll not be "aligned with target" until you boost again (or wait forever).

Sometimes you can get the FSD to engage and be right at the station when it finally jumps, mass locked all the while.
