When you remember about your SLF

So, just finished the 4th Aegis CG (it was almost worth the effort) and am into trying different things in ED at the moment.

As I was in Khun I thought it seemed an ideal time to look at engineers so I am up to unlocking Selene. I have decided that I would outfit a Keelback for mining, I know my Type 7 may have been better for this but I also wanted the opportunity to try a SLF for the first time. So after outfitting I headed to a Metal Rich ring and did my first proper stint at mining. I only got 50t of Ore refined so have a long way to go but also picked up some gold and silver etc. I learned to how to use collection limpets and had them buzzing around and my new crew mate nearby in my Taipan in case of pirates.

After I finished I headed back to port to off load everything and finish for the night and although the mining was a little dull (Netflix is going on next time) the next bit was fun.

I was interdicted by a competent NPC vulture (I am still only Mostly Harmless). I submitted with the mind to make a run for it but as soon as I was out it pummelled me with its hardpoints and shields were gone quite quickly. Then I remembered about my fighter......yay!! lets see what happens.

I launched the fighter and turned my own hard points on which are a couple of medium turreted multi-cannons. I stopped taking hits as the fighter was being concentrated on which is great. THEN I remember I can also take over as the fighter pilot so thought I would see how that felt.....OMG I loved it, its so nippy and fun. With my crew mate taking the Helm of the Keelback going offensive as well the Vulture didn't last much longer.

These small moments that make you feel like a true Han Solo make the ore mining "grind" worth it IMO. I have heard all sorts of storeys on these forums with these moments and it really shows where ED Shines. Its the close calls and the fact it is dangerous out there.

I will admit though that I was feeling a little sure of myself after that so dropped into a distress call shortly after and was greeted with the message 'Please tell me you're here to help!' and was soon surrounded by a wing of 6 expert NPCs. I honestly felt bad about it but without delay I spun up my engines and got back into SC.

I am sure that helpless NPC is ok.....right? RIGHT?
