Working Starport
Remember that the artificial gravity in these starports is created by rotating the structure around the axis. So the unless you are in contact with the starport so that you are being spun along as well, you are in zero-g. In any working maintenance facility there is trash, dust, dirt, broken tools, etc in the environment. As long these items are lying on the inner surface of the starport, they are being spun along with it and artificial gravity applies. Even it you throw a tool into the "air" it is still going to have the mometum of the the spining station and would tend to settle to the walls (floor) of the station. But some of these articles are going to have the right/wrong trajectory and are going to endup suspended in zero-g inside the spinning station. This is junk you see floating around. I would think there would of needs be some sort of collection system to gather up larger items that get lose into zero-g. Imagine hitting a large wrench or a 55 gallon drum of something that got lose from artificial gravity and was floating along in zero-g. That could do some damage if it hit your ship while docking or undocking. Or you have to take evasive action and collide with another ship.
