Where are al the "old" ships

I see lot's of people flying around in let's say a cobra Mark III but why is there no one flying a Cobra Mk2?

I know why (because they are not in the game) but i would love the older versions of the ships stil flying around (by players and/OR NPC's).

In real life I don't drive the newest version of the Citroën C4 i drive an older version and it suits my needs perfect. So i don't upgrade, why is it that all the people that fly spaceships only fly the best en newest versions?

I would like to see different marks of the ships (maybe make the older ships buy able in a 2nd hand shipmarket)...

Cobra Mk II never entered the production lines (faulty design and it was discarded before production), but I agree on principle: it would be great to see the Cobra Mk I make an appearance! :)

I would love to see all the ships from the previous elite games it would be great.. I understand many designs are old and not first pick, but still I like to fly many different types of ships and tried almost all ships in the previous games
that I could get the hand on.. especially now when we can have many ships and we would many more options. ^^ still awaiting which ships is next on the line... we are promised 30 and so far it is 15. :p

All except some of the ropier FFE designs - the lanner for example seemed dumb with that great hulking piston thumping away, or the straker with its rotating thruster. Even the rotating engine cowlings of the Imp courier and trader seemed silly, and they were otherwise cool ships.. but so long as these daft details were revised, yes it'd be nice to see all the canonical ships represented...

While I will agree with you on the Lanner and Straker (heck most of the FFE addition ships were just terrible designs), the Imperial Courier and Trader Engine Pods were somewhat signature to the ships.
I'd also point out that the 'Spinning' Effect on the Shockwave Intake was an after market thing, as were the 'Go Faster' Red Stripes and Atmospheric Stablisers; not all models had these improvement, particularly if you were lucky enough to find a dealer in Imperial Space that actually sold 'New' Production models instead of Second Hand.
.
Mind this is something that Elite Dangerous sorely lacks right now. Mainly because ships are merely randomly sold, instead it would be awesome to see Ships (and Equipment) be part of the Production and Market System; where for example if I sold my K-Scanner to buy something new / better, then it would be on the market where I sold it. At a Premium if it is a non-standard component they supply... same with ships, where certain systems would act like dealerships (especially the actual Stations, where-as Outposts are less likely to have many, if any ships).
.
I know this might seem a little off-topic on seeing all of the Elite, Elite Plus and Frontier Ships in the game (which ideally is what we want before seeing new things, like the Lakon Transporters of various classes; instead the Type-6 which is likely suppose to be the Transporter from Elite Plus / 2) but as this was a major aspect of Frontier and First Encounters it would make sense it would be here.

Bring back the Krait!

And *all* ships should have snake names, none of this Type 6/7 nonsense.

The Dark Wheel said:
No-one knew how or when the designation of space-going vessels had been linked to the names
of snakes. The Ryder's own vessel was a relatively harmless Ophidion, capable of two hyperspace
jumps, armed very basically, set up, really, only to destroy imminent dangers, like asteroids,
meteoroids, or 'crazy craft', the name given to vessels that were out of control, or ridden by
juveniles out for kicks. The Cobra was a bigger vessel by far.

The Fer deLance is on the way. Always loved the look of that ship, even though it was a piece of cake to kill in the original game. Got the feeling there's going to be more of the original designs joining the current crop.

I disagree on that. We need Wolf Mk II as well. :)

Oh, and I always liked The Gyr as well in FFE, despite the visibility problems that it had (interestingly enough, _all_ Elite: Dangerous ships now have that same fault...).

What do you mean, specifically? The lack of rear/side cameras, or the inability to look backwards in the main cockpit?
The Gyr had a bug in the FFE and you could not use the rear camera views (you only saw the tail of the ship). The ships in Elite: Dangerous are basically as "blind" as The Gyr was, but for different reasons.

Oops meant the Skeet of course. Not that the lanner was particularly cool either, but that piston on the skeet cruiser just seemed completely superfluous.

And yes to Kraits, Mambas, Geckos, Morays, Worms, Boas, Constrictors, Cobra Mk 1 and all the FE2 designs..
