Where are all the commanders in PowerPlay?

Day for Day I travel to enemy systems to undermine them and farm credits. The only characters that seem to be interested in that are NPCs. Where is everyone? I barely see a Commander these days. Sometimes a wing of three doing undermining kills, sometimes a T6 and a Cobra but so far, I haven't seen a player for days. Even though the palyer base increases and more people start playing ED, I doubt they are all still flying arount ERAVATE or LHS 3447.

So my question is, where are you commanders? Have I missed something fun? Tell me about it! I wanna have some fun too :)

Greetings.

Yeah I had kind of the same the other day, I sat trying to defend one of our control systems, but it turns out I could only watch a Undermining percentage go up, no one there. :(

What's needed for my problem is a system whereby if someone undermines for 1%, then I somehow get a chance to reverse that 1%, irrespective of solo/group/open.

Mostly in solo I reckon.

Also there's this thing called instancing.

I strongly agree with Quickr. I think that due to psycho CMDRs and bad instancing setup or capability most of the players are playing solo. I used to meet human players in almost every system I went till a few weeks ago but now I'm really thinking to launch STI program (Search for Terrestrial Intelligence program) to know if there is someone left in Open Play.

This is a problem with the instancing. Let's say there is someone undermining the system you are in by destroying the supply ships, the problem would be that quite often you end up in different instance than the one undermining is. The only way to counter this is to fortify the system by acquiring and delivering agreements to your Power's HQ. The problem is however, that you can undermine much faster than you can fortify.

I have tested this myself. Depending on your PP rank, you can only accumulate certain amount of agreements due the time unless you invest some heavy credits by fast tracking your quota. On the other hand, the one undermining the system, can add up faster to the undermining percentage much faster by destroying those pesky supply ships.

When I was undermining one particular system of A Duval-Lavigny, I calculated that I got merits much faster by undermining than fortifying, because those supply ships appeared faster than I could renew my quota with agreements.

I play in open, it is safer than solo these days. But I don't play powerplay.

Why would people want to play in Solo? I mean, this sounds like they are bullied or have no social abilities ... Isn't like the whole gaming community against solo players? Not in ED but in every game?

This isn't a problem with instancing (it is what it is), this is a problem where I cannot make an impact against someone's actions, yeah sure I could fortify, but I refues to be demoted to that of a delivery boy. :D

Well this is where instancing forces you (to be a delivery boy), isn't it not? If I could count on that I could meet the one who is undermining in space, and thus have chance to blow him/her to pieces, I wouldn't need to be a delivery boy. But since now I can very rarely see the person undermining, the only real chance to counter it is to fortify.

They're mainly in solo I wager. That and instancing is pretty vicious. Time zones and instancing play a pretty big part in who and how many we see online in populated space.

does playing in the same private group ensure you are in the same instance? or do you have to be in a wing? If it did would it be possible to have a large number in the same private group, im talking thousands.

If that where the case you could publicise the group and effectively create a server where the players are all playing in the same galaxy, right?

Cast into the abyss of eternal return ;) One moment though, because I was about to say that although often cynical, I have been very pleasantly surprised by the amount of players I am bumping into at the moment - I went to the Eravate area yesterday to help a friend who as just started and it was teeming with new players! One brave young cobra even attacked me at the RES and my sidewinder friend and I had a lot of fun engaging him. I let him go with 50% hull, as I'm trying to form a pact with as many other averagely to very experienced players, not to destroy new players, as we want to encourage them to stay playing in the open (although I respect other players rights to choose who they engage and whether they destroy the etc etc etc)
Also, for those who want a bit of player action of an evening and are having trouble finding it, 34 Pegasi is becoming a bit of a hub where cmdr's of different factions, as well as unaffiliated heroes and villains, meet up to settle their differences - can be a bit advanced at times, so wing up if you're still learning and choose your ship wisely for rebuy price :)

Nope it doesnt force me to be a delivery boy, I just watch a percentage go up. :p

My experience a month ago was that it does not. Used to play in a private (and I still sometimes do), but it requires a wing to ensure that friends end up on the same (virtual)reality. I don't know if there has been changes on this recently, but at least it is how it used to be.

Greetings.

If you can't go open because you are sitting ina big fat frighter labeled "TARGET" and don't like playing Solo then there is very good solution.
Big LARGE open PVE private/groups.

I played on Mobius the last weeks grinding the merits in my frighter and I saw a lot commander every day.
But it started to reduce already. I saw a lot less this week and I expect it to drop even more next week and the week after if the ppl become aware of the merit decay change.
