Where are the Heat Vanes??

I have been hunting the a High Res (hazardous) area for the last 3 days and have found exactly 1 Heat Vane! Where can I find more? I have found TONS of other rare stuff (so much so that I had to stop collecting it), but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Okay, thanks. I was hoping for a way to get these without becoming Wanted, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do! =D

Well, thats why everyone should grab them in anarchy systems, no one cares what happens there.

Except maybe the police there! I should know as I just got attacked when I was leaving the station. One scans me and then suddenly all of them are attacking me.

Really? Never happend to me... I guess I'm lucky nowadays^^.

Well there are HazRes' sometimes too and in Anarchy systems I've never seen a security ship spawn, maybe try them.

Look for High Grade Emissions if you want a bunch of them. Sometimes Encoded Emissions may have one spawn too. I've never seen them drop in RES from pirates.

Combat Aftermath USS
I found 2 heat vanes and a chemical manipulator in one USS. I was a happy penguin.

Agreed. I've been dropping in on every combat aftermath I've seen lately looking for chemical manipulators. I'm mot finding many of these, but there are regularly heat vanes present. mutter mutter ... because the game knows I'm not looking for heat vanes ... mutter mutter

If you get bored with flying into USSs, I've had reasonable luck finding ChemManis driving into POIs in my SRV. The 'big' ones with 4 skimmers sometimes have them. It's a change of pace if you get bored with one particular grind ;)

This I'm not grinding. Just dropping into some USS while doing my other stuff. I only want chemical manipulators because I have too much arsenic, but I'm not too worried about it. Though the last couple of days I've got too much stuff, that I used to find rare, from high grade emissions.
There's only 4 things I find hard to get now, that's Tungsten, Abnormal Compact Emission Data, Cracked Industrial Firmware and Modified Embedded Firmware.
And I've never ever seen a Yttrium, but I'm not looking for that.

Mef's and Cif's you will get scanning med sec, medium settlements, Thank you to CMDR Devari and others..
Just find planet with High content Tungsten like Clota, Clota 1.

Cheers Cmdr's

That being said the reward table for missions and the USS loot table alsodoes seem to be affected by the the kind of system you are in, i.e Industrial, High Tech.
State does affect it,

I found an Anarchy - Outbreak system, HIP 9141. I was able to get 18 Heat Vanes yesterday. I got lots of other rare mats too. I just went between a couple of planets and every time I came back to the station, a USS would appear. About 75% of the time it was a Convoy, 25% it was a Combat Aftermath (love finding these! All the rewards and none of the combat!) and the last 25% of the time it was other (medical convoy or married couple.) It still wasn't as fast as I would have liked to have found them, but it was far faster than trying to find them in a HighRes!

Thank you all for the info. It sure helped!

I've been doing missions- not stacking, just regular from a normal station. Anyway, I've got loads heat vanes, and those focussed crystal things I don't need for anything!

I always need arsenic for my grade 5 FSD, that stuff's gold dust for me!
