Where are the non-permanent POI's in interstellar space?

Back in the game after not playing for awhile and I have noticed that the non-permanent POI's (ships, cargo drops, wrecked beacons, escape pods, etc.) are not showing up on planets/moons out in interstellar space. I would like to search for these as I make my way across the cosmos. Used to be able to fly around 2K feet above the surface and find endless amounts of goodies....They all nerfed now? If so is there any reason to land on planets/moons anymore besides grabbing the occasional rock?

There's still plenty of them near inhabited space, but I think they've made them far more improbable once you get more than 1000 LYs from the nearest starport. Which is fair enough; many old-timers can recall it when the galaxy was littered with tea.

As for landing on planets/moons, they've made finding the most interesting targets much easier (geological and biological permanent POIs). They've got Codex entries to collect, as well as abundant raw mats and photo opportunities. It does tend to make doing what you're used to doing on surfaces - just driving around in random directions waiting for the RNG to give you something interesting to find - less necessary, unless you're on an emergency hunt for mats and there are no bio/geo worlds in the system with what you need.
