Where are the Police?

Dontcha all know! Its the Blue Flu. They do not like the new procedural guidelines in 1.5 and are letting us all know about it. Actually All I have been doing since the patch is BH. What I see everday is More Police in Low Res and Less Police in each higher tier. I was in three Hazardous RES instances today and got ZERO help from any Federal presence. I had to either wait for a Solo bad guy who showed up in either a Clipper, Python, Anaconda and take them out because if not solo they are in wings. The only break I got was when they started shooting each other and I had my pick of bad guys. I could not lose. I was taking them down in my trusty ol'Vulture. One after another. This space isn't big enough for the both of us!
Merry Christmas everyone, its my Birthday tomorrow. :)

The cops often take a long time to appear if fighting occurs.

If you try to pirate, the cops seem to appear much faster.

Would be a nice touch if cops showed up to pvp fights fast. That would give the "defenders" (that is, the clean side) an advantage.

I Hadn't played since Horizons was launched until last night for a few hrs,
went to my usual HighRes at Wolf 229 and in all the time I spent there only 1 Viper Security ship showed up,

its normally crowded with security here, has anyone reported this as a BUG yet??

They're all at the closest coriolis eating donuts. Unless of course you are smuggling, in that case they're always attached to your ship, like you're carrying the galaxy's last donut.

I agree, the RES areas and high security systems should be literally crawling with NPC police patrols etc. Interdictions should be frequent.

It would make it missions to high security systems (for smuggling etc) a real challenge and something to weight up.

That's the point of the HazRes. There are no security forces there.
That said, I've been hitting the High Intensity RES lately and haven't seen any police there either for a while.

Daft question - What is the status of the "report crimes against me" option under function in the RH UI

It means that if you are subjected to criminal action (like being shot at), police in the system will be alerted to it and proceed to travel to your location and assist you. The time npc police ships take to get to your location from where they are (if they are) seems to be (unlike most other things) inline with the time that a player ship would take to travel supercruise and drop into your wake.

The issue is that hostile enconters do not last long. Everything will usually be over in less than one minute. By the time police gets there, you will either have long escaped, be long dead, or have long destroyed the attacking ship.

If you're in say a RES where there's lots of other ships and Feds, the Feds will come and help you if somebody shoots you, providing that they're not already busy. They're not very observant. If you open fire on someone, they don't see it. Instead, it seems to goad them into attacking someone else, so when your enemy is shooting back, they're too busy to come and help. I've had a 5 minute battle with an Anaconda. There were three Feds circling round, but they didn't fire a single shot, I guess because the Anaconda never got a shot at me. Other times, they do join in.

Wrong end of stick _ I was asking those who had a problem including the OP what was THEIR status - if Horizons has changed the default status from "on" to "off" it might explain why some people aren't getting the help they expected
