Where are you?

Im playing Elite now about 7 months, open since beginning, and havent really found a lot of players. I heard of 500k players in this game, but so far it seems very empty. I now have a Python and want to take the risk of being pirated just so I cant see some of the player interaction I read about in this forum from time to time.

So, is there any place where all player are or are they just doing their stuff in Solo/Group?

Old worlds such as Lave and Leesti have lots of activities.
Community Goals are always busy.
Eravate and starter systems are busy.

If you want some action go to the Old Worlds, that is to say - Lave, Leesti, Diso, pretty much around that area. Bring your A-game, though.

I'm currently 1200Ly outside of colonized space heading back so that I can see how Powerplay will affect the verse, once it's released. I thought I would be back by now, but I just found a large section of unexplored systems and have slowed down to tag them.

Neighborhood of Kappa Fornacis, lots of CMDR's settled there after the first Onionhead War, there are Empire/Fed/Independent systems around, as well as hi tech systems and good trading routes. Always bumping into other CMDRs.

Mostly friendly people.

WELL, you may THINK it's empty simply because you are looking for players incorrectly. Starter systems are always packed. Any ship you see with CMDR in their name is another player. And most people like to stretch out far across the galaxy (some may be at the center right now)

Yeah, don't forget of those 500,000 many are in different timezones and don't always play, a ton play mobius and solo.
That probably cuts it down to less than 100,000 playing Open at the time you are. Some are Explorers far away, and of the ones that arn't 90% are clustered in the areas listed below.
Add in the fact that non-rare traders like quiet areas with good routes and miners also disappear into asteroid belts away from RES sites and the only people you tend to see randomly are bounty hunters.

Areas always busy:

Lave cluster
Starter systems (list in spoiler pinched from the internet, there may be more, some may be wrong)
LHS 3447
Trevithick
LHS 1914
Aiabiko
LTT 15449
Cosi
Eranin
Cheneti

Areas often busy:
Achenar
Sol
Alioth

Areas that become very busy for short periods:
Community Goals
Discount areas from Community Goals

For example Persephone was about as busy as it got recently with back to back goals.
Wolf 406 will get busy once powerplay is released and people go for the diamondback discount
78 Ursuae Majoris (or however you spell it, next to Alioth) - Currently shield discount so not amazingly busy but a fair bit going on.

I am either 20.000 LYs away from human bubble, or (almost) permanently docked at home base. Too bad that we don't have ship spinning in stations :)

I aint sayin.. so buy a Frame Shift Drive Scanner...that's the only way anyone (potential: pirate, griefer or rammer) is going to find me :D

Well, thanks but I know to recognize players^^ its the CMDR and the empty symbol on my radar (while NPCs have a full symbol). My home is around Mahimata and there is simply no player, at least when Im online

The galaxy is a big place! CGs obviously attract attention, but most people are spread pretty thin. Powerplay may create some 'front lines' when it comes to activity... I'm in a fairly quiet place (see my sig) but it could all change after the beta. As others have said there will always be some hotspots like the Lave cluster though.
