Where can I find Tin?

I'm looking for Tin for a blueprint but I simply can't find any. I've looked at all kinds of planets (Icy, High Metal Content and Metal Rich) but even after hours and hours of prospecting I haven't found one single Tin. I've also checked missions at several locations but none of them award it. Any advice?

I've got quite a bit of it, seems to drop more than Yttium anyway.

To be honest I'm starting to get the impression that some of these drops are utterly random. :(

They are.
I thought as much. All these people saying "try this planet, you'll find X material there"
Don't think it matters where you go for the most part tbh.

Whole thing felt too grindy for me, so I just headed off on a sight-seeing trip. If I come across the materials then cool, if not - no biggie ;)

Still though, the whole Engineers thing reminds me of Power Play: a fantastic idea poorly implemented.
Hopefully FD will make the whole material system a bit more coherent than just random drops.

The sounds from the scanner help. I literally just found some when shooting some Mesosiderite.

Check out http://cmdr.surbiton.com/materials which seems as though it could be handy. From that page, Mesosiderite, Metallic Meteorite, Outcrop are the three places you will get tin from.

It's totally random... just because someone has found tin on one particular planet or location, doesn't mean that you'll find it there...RNGsus at his best :)

Behold this gratuitous rant :)

If there is Tin in a planet, there will be always Tin in that planet, it is public knowledge. Ask your contact in Robigo mines, you will see.

You think it's gratuitous because you don't agree with it?

How cute and childlike :)

True....I agree, good luck finding it among the many randomly generated outcrops :) I haven't been to Robigo bar once or twice.

Thanks. However, I've shot hundreds of them already, yet still no Tin. I've already found 5 yttrium and molybdenium but still no Tin. Perhaps the game knows which blueprint you have pinned and deliberately doesn't spawn what you need so that you have to grind longer? This is such bad game design. Hunt for random stuff in order to upgrade something so it can be randomly worse than before.

oh voy, the reason why I posted where to find Tin is because you looked correct whn asking for it. this last post just ruined everything.

What makes you think it's a rant?

I thought it was balanced critique myself. :p

Perhaps you'd prefer me to post some of the semi-legible whinging that has graced the feed lately instead? ;)

It does feel the odds are against you when you need specific items.
Bottom line, dreadful gameplay.

The gameplay is fine, I even like to drive around the surface and look for things. What's disappointing is when you feel that no matter how much you play you make no progress towards your goal. But I'll keep looking, hopefully I'll find some sooner or later.

Tin can spawn as an alternate Ore to Copper when generating a world. As a replacement to Copper, it spawns in all the same areas, usually near the Overworld.

The other alternate Ores are Lead (Iron), Tungsten (Silver), Platinum (Gold), Palladium (Cobalt), Orichalcum (Mythril) and Titanium (Adamantite).

All alternate Ores are slightly more powerful than their standard variants.

Hope this helps. :p
