Where Do CMDR Pirates Hang Out ?

As the title says, I need some PvP in my Eagle.

In your Eagle? CMDR pirates fly A-rated FdLs, Pythons and Anacondas stuffed with shield boosters and shield cell banks.
.
How can a they pay for such ships when pirating is hardly profitable you ask? They earned the money by trading in solo.

Trading in OPEN!!! ..... Though its hardly their fault piracy doesn't make any $$$ :p

Pirates don't really hang out in one place, we move around a lot sometimes crossing from Fed space to Empire space multiple times in a play session.

Most of us traded up in open then switched to piracy :)

I've heard that comment a lot, but is there actually anyone who normally plays open but switches to solo just for trading?
I do all my trading in open because it's not even remotely dangerous and I can still talk to people at starports to stave away the intense boredom. You'd have to be afraid of your own shadow (or just habitually hang around Lave) to be paranoid enough to trade in solo.

Or open. It isn't overly dangerous trading in open if you don't try to do it in pirate hot spots.

Nothing wrong with pirates or bounty hunters (or anyone else) making their money trading.

Traded exclusively in Open from early beta up to a month ago, reached Tycoon and earned over half a billion. I don't touch Open now unless it is a community goal, nothing to do with paranoia or fear, just got sick of the ridiculous legal system.. Why should I lose 15 million insurance/cargo to some idiot in a FDL, they dock at the nearest port and bribe a cop.

@Op - check out the Anarchy system 'Reddot' , it has a large station orbiting the Gas giant 'Motherlode' no cops anywhere, you normally find quite a few Pirates and smugglers cruising around. Your Eagle won't last long..

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

Although it is amusing that piracy is something one turns to because A) there is no other choice to put food on the table or B) it is far more lucrative than legitimate business. Neither is true here. Piracy is something people do just because it's fun. :)

Yeah well... but then they're not really pirates are they? Pirates should be on the edge of bankruptcy. That's why they had to resort to piracy in the first place. They can only afford badly maintained modest ships.

Rather than de-rail the thread with an open or group discussion (of which I am as much to blame as anyone).... In answer to the OPs original question - you could try somewhere like Lave (assuming you want to do bounty hunting) or any of the current community goal systems.

Be warned though, it will be tough - especially in a ship that whilst very maneuverable is made of tissue paper :)

Heh well it might be the excuse that someone in RL gives for being a pirate. Whether that is actually true or not is another matter. :)

Because you didn't take adequate precautions against idiots in FDLs. Caveat of open, my friend, never stops applying regardless of circumstances. Frankly said idiots and the work it takes to avoid becoming fodder for them is more engaging than anything else the game offers right now.

Think your almost better off putting up an request here on the forums for some dueling buddies to have some decently fair fights with.
If you find a pirate in open, hes gonna be in fully A rated "end-game" ship killing small game, just because. Im pretty sure you are going to grow tired of fighting that.
If you must find these "pirates" i sugesst going to any comunity event/goal, thats where i figure they go.

Yeah so apparently you know how I operate in game? I think not. Look mate, if I managed to trade over half a billion, it's safe to say I was doing something right..

A lot of people here seem to have this silly macho attitude about flying in Open, the fact is the legal system is flawed. FD have said they will fix it, once that is done I'll think about returning.

I really couldn't give a stuff if you think the only engaging part of the game is avoiding idiots in FDL's... That's your problem buddy, I'm enjoying all aspects this sim offers
