Ship Builds & Load Outs Where Do I Find Passenger Modules?

Do I simply fit a passenger module (To my current Type 7 Transporter) in order to do passenger missions?

I can't seem to find one. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Yes, you just need to install a passenger cabin into a free compartment on your T7. You will then be able to accept passenger missions that will fit into the size and class that you have fitted.

You can find passenger cabins in outfitting, but as with many modules, they may not be available in every station, so you may have to look at a few different stations before you find them.

Generally speaking any station with Hi-Tech economy is the place to go for outfitting your ship. Those always have the best selection.

Ok, So I've found a passenger module and completed my first passenger mission. A rich person wanted me to travel to a system beacon and back.

Lots of these passenger missions have some very strange destination names, unlike transport missions which used to specify the system and station.
When I select those missions does the destination simply appear on the galaxy map for me to find?

Sometimes but not always. When you arrive in the system, if the destination isn't listed in your nav panel, you'll have to look around for it. If it's a beacon it'll be near a planet of star. Taking a discovery scanner (good one) will help you. But be aware that some passenger missions are bugged. So have a look in the forums to see what Cmdrs are saying about that before you do too many.

Good luck Cmdr.

Yeah, I've heard they're bugged. But thought I'd give it a try anyway :)

Presumably some of those multi million credit passenger missions are sometimes sending you out of the inhabited bubble?

There are some huge passenger mission payouts but they'll require trips in excess of 2000 - 5000 LY or higher, I found refugee transport mission fun as sometimes you'll be targeted by enemy ships (probably not what you want in a T7 though!)

Like some missions you may get a change of destination for an additional bonus, also passenger cabins add to ship mass when they're empty unlike empty cargo racks so store them if they're not being filled.

If the passenger is "Famous Explorer", this is indeed the case. Take a look at the distance of the mission, anything over 1000 Ly and you need a fuel scoop (and sometimes SRV) to finish the job. Also the job description warns to bring fuel scoop.

So how do I check the distance of the mission?

With delivery missions it used to quickly tell me how many light years away the delivery was. I didn't even need to look at the details.

With some of the passenger missions it says things like "Take Joe Bloggs to see the Star Rings" without giving me a hint of how far away that system is.

How do I quickly check what I'm committing myself to?

You can click the mission on the list to check it out and decline if you don't like it without any penalty. Only when you press 'accept' on mission description itself, you are actually committing.

Yes, but the target doesn't show up on the galaxy map until you press accept.

How do I know what the destination is if it just says "planetary rings"?

You can see the destination by clicking "Galaxy Map" on the bottom of mission description. The map will center on the target location. Also the distance to target is mentioned in description earlier and anything over 1000 Ly is likely taking you out of the bubble.

You only accept the mission if you choose "Pick a Cabin" and assign the passenger to certain cabin in your ship. Choosing the "Galaxy Map" option does not accept the mission, you can simply exit the map and "Decline" the mission with no penalty.
