Which is another sadistic, stupid and arbitrary game design decision. Why can I buy tens of different metals and materials at the stations, including some rather exotic ones, but I have to mine or prospect for something as common as iron or sulphur???
Thank you all. Best forum by far for help.
So if I find something on the srv scanner, 1 how do i know its Iron? And 2 how do I mine it? You cant fit a mining laser on the srv can you?In looking at the other replies, not sure that wasn't sarcasm!
Seriously, I found surface prospecting vastly more successful for iron than Mining in ice rings etc. In fact every time I have been mining, the prospector limpet tells me "Materials - low" - and boy, they were indeed.
So get in that buggy.
On the plus side, pretty much any contact on the scanner could contain iron, it isn't like looking for stuff only found in a certain type of signal like metallic outcrops etc......
Good luck

Working very well. ThanksYou will find a rock that you can target. You shoot it with your SRV lasers. You pickup what it drops. Thats pretty much all there is to it.
Oh and you might want to check youtube for a tutorial on how to use the SRV wave scanner.
