Newcomer / Intro Where do we all start

As the release is in just over two hours time, just curious where we all start from. Do we start from the same initial space station or is it staggered. I'm just trying to visualise 50,000 Sidewinders trying to exit through that small airlock at the same time.

If it's like in Gamma, there will be some different starting systems. You will be assigned to one of them randomly.

My understanding it that there is something like few thousands starting locations.

But even if we would all start at the same location, inside the same space station, there would be no need to worry. Game takes care that there is a maximum of 32 players in the same instance.

Does this mean that, on the off chance that my friend and I are in different 32 player instances, we cannot possibly meet up?

As they're not doing a wipe, anybody whose already playing will still be in the same location, I believe. So folk will be scattered all over the galaxy already.

Yes and No. Once you've added your friend to your friend list, the game will try to match you together. Or you could play in a private group and the game will try to match you together. There are a ton of groups out there, check the "Groups" forum page for more info. There are no guarantees that you guys will spawn in the same system though, be prepared to do a bit of traveling at the start.

It's improbable that you will both start in the same system, so you'll need to fly to one another. However, if you add each other to your friends list, you will be given preference with the instancing. Instancing is not galaxy or even solar system wide, it's performed at stations, USS, and even in super cruise. You'll probably find each other just fine, but understand that with the starting ships, you may not have the jump range to actually get to one another initially :)

I tried to meet with a friend once (yesterday), and we ended up in different instances.
