Are you just having a laugh with all these silly polls? :S

I'm not just having a laugh.. I genuinely find them interesting too.
It's the first time I have been on a forum and getting to know the dynamics is good.

Whilst there is some humour associated, it is important to explore areas of the game outside the game. For example the target audience.
Now if 50% of those that donated are working professionals with jobs and families, they prob dont get a lot of time to play games... but enjoy playing... and only find a bit of peace and quiet when in bed or on the loo.
That's important to know right? -- if true -- would an iPad or android version be put up the list of priorities?

I for one would welcome the opportunity to play a very dumbed down version of ED on the iPAD -- maybe just as an observer, or in single player mode only etc. in those spare moments.. Rather than having to go to the study and power on my PC, then start the game, then justify why I'm spending an hour playing silly games :).

Thanks for the suggestion..
ahh.. so the thing is, I'd want to play on the loo for 20 minutes each day.. but then when I get a holiday, log on and play the real game on my PC.
And the advancements I got from the last 3 months casual gaming.... I'd be able to use during my 1 day session when all's quiet on the western front.

Reckon a Elite:Ipad would still be better than candy crush... and would be perfect if it'd be linked to the next time I played on the PC.

Maybe with a gamepad attached to a tablet... I expect porting the game over to 'touch' would involve stripping the game of most of what makes it what it is, though. Rather than looking at mobile ports, I'd prefer it if Frontier stuck with PC and consoles for Elite, and made completely new games more suited for tablets. Some sort of Elite spin-off could be possible.

Living room - Xbox 360 - 60%
'Computer' room - Amiga - 10% / PC -20%
Mobile - Galaxy S4 - 10%

Do I want to play ED on a console/tablet? No.
Would I like tablet support, for data/systems? Yes.

Can you define data/systems a bit more?
Do you mean a reference to the universe so you can plan trading/exploration strategies to execute when you're back at your PC...?

We are lucky to have 3 in ours... so usually there's one free :)

Seriously though, I'm beginning to think that I'm the only person that plays games whilst in the can? Hopefully I'm not coming across as some kind of social deviant?

I would like a two level app (iOS/Android)

1st level...while in logged in and active on the PC, I can use my tablet to access the Galaxy map and set a waypoint... basically all ship systems that take me away from the cockpit could run on a separate PC, 2nd monitor or tablet.

2nd level...when away from the PC the app allows me to see whos online, send messages, plan stuff, look at player profiles, maybe manage ships (ie equip them and move them).. no direct control, like trading.

2nd level works on phones too.

I only use mobile devices for gaming on the commute to work, business trips and holidays.

I need to get a 3dsXL for Animal Crossing

Excellent ideas bp.

I'd like a 3rd level too.. which gives a bit more control - at least that allows to do tangible advancements... but this would be a lot more resource intensive to implement.

Imagine you'd have to have two separate linked logins to implement the first level below... and keeping them synchronized would be tricky too...

Second level would be less resource intensive.

Quick and dirty would just be to publish galaxy data on a password protected web interface..

Mancave in garage in the summer - 19%
Closet converted into Spaceship cockpit - 10%
PC whilst watching movies, spending quality time with family - 70%
Kitchen (whilst cooking) - 1%

I basically only play games on my desktop computer. I don't enjoy time wasters, so I don't play on my phone etc. And when I play, 80 % of the time my daughter sits on my lap "helping" me, so she often gets to decide the sorts of games we play (for example, she prefers Skyrim and Trine over Deus Ex and other "shooting games").

No, just loo-rich :D

How does the tablet talk to the client on your PC? Do they both have to connect to a common server set up specially for the app, or is there a way to get them to talk to each other directly?

Concerning Elite Dangerous, I think it is an offense, to play it, on the loo.
Otherwise I'm not a player in general. I will play Dangerous Elite on the PC.

:)

I think for compatibility the tablet would connect directly to FD's Servers via an app. It would detect that you are logged in and revert to type 1 interface. If you are not logged in then interface 2.

Only as deviant as those who read the newspaper or a book in there (which is the group of deviants that I belong to).

I voted Loo on my nexus 7. Having 1 child and another one arriving in the next few days I don't get a lot of me time. It used to be my PC, and I hope to dust her off again sometime soon.
