Newcomer / Intro Where is my save status kept

Is it on the server..

I tried downloading the client to my laptop last night so I could carry on in a different room, the main PC being used by the OH but when I logged in it treated me as if I was a new player?

It is on a server, as long as you log in to the launcher, it should let you continue from where you left off.
Are you sure you didn't accidentally get the wrong client?

I'm refering to client on the launcher, especially if you have beta access there is going to be three choices, and at least for me it keeps jumping to 'single player' so doublecheck which client you are launching with the launcher, if it is elite dangerous, then I don't know, I would say instead of pressing play instantly, perhaps give it a minute or two?
