I think the blue POI circles have entirely vanished.

I didn't see them anymore since Alpha 1 and have yet to see any. Even approaching a definitive POI from the NAV Panel and checking Sensors doesn't indicate anything anymore.

Gone, thank God...

DSS scanned planets now show you points of interest when nearby, and they randomise periodically.

Meanwhile, geo/bio signals are distributed across the planet via heatmaps visible in DSS mode instead of clusters at a poi.

Except that they removed the heatmap and made it just a solid blue. There’s no longer any distribution indicated. We’re back to MkI eyeball scans :p

Did they? Looked like a heatmap last night? I haven't played since, because missions are a cluster with >80% Colonia missions.

Use SRV radar scan, you will find them much faster than looking from a flying vehicle, the SRV radar is useful once again.

Yes they have, confirmed by FDEV in a bug report, apparently some players found the heatmap to hard to use so they reverted it to just a colour that marks the area where geo can be found. The good news is it seem widespread across the blue and I haven't failed to find multiple geo when using the SRV and radar no matter where I land. Other people seem to have a different experience so I don't know whether that's a bug on their side and the geo simply aren't spawning for them.

How about mission-generated POI's, like crash sites? Two missions now have told me to go to a planet to scavenge something from a crash site. No crash sites show up. Tried DSS'ing the planet, tried relogging, tried jumping to other system and jumping back, scanning the Nav beacon, and still nothing. The planet in question is blue on the Nav panel (indicating it's mission related), but nothing blue on the Nav panel for that planet.

If they are mission related they should show up as a POI, it may be a bug but I can't help with that because I don't tend to do those sorts of missions. It could be related to the change of RNG POI's fdev recently implemented.

Sounds like it's related to the more general issue of POIs simply not appearing post DSS

So having just ended up back at my base camp I decided to test a few missions that people have been complaining about. First I took a fetch mission, walked in, got scanned once, grabbed what I wanted and walked and back on the shuttle to turn it in. Next keeping this thread in mind I took a threat 1 salvage mission, keeping in mind that all I have for firepower is my SRV guns. This also seemed to work fine, this is the nav panel after I scanned the moon, note the blue highlighted distress beacon, selected it as my target;

Flew in, checked out and found nothing living, grabbed everything really quickly in case any mercenaries turned up, mission complete flashed up, I ran away and turned it in, it all worked exactly as expected. Which I guess really only goes to show that different people experience different result in the game;

They appear for me when I scan the planet. Once or twice they haven't. Seems like a mission-related bug.
