Where is the Custom Keybinding File?

I've purchased Voice Attack and the HCS Astra voice pack.

I've also in the last two years made a lot of customization to my key bindings for my Saitek X-52Pro.

I want to keep a copy of the custom keybind file so if Astra messes it up I can get it back without having to entirely rebuild it.

Can't find where it's kept though.

If anyone knows where the custom key bind files live could you please relate that info here?

Thanks.

OH...
And I've checked the user/username location on my C drive without luck. Doesn't mean the files aren't in there somewhere just that if they are I didn't recognize them as such.

This is what I found there:

Custom.0.8.binds
Custom.1.8.binds
Custom.binds
StartPreset.start

Looking inside them the StartPreset file tells ED what file to load up by default.
The others are various versions, I think, of my current custom file - though maybe not.

So I tried copying each one and changing custom to Astra so there was a version of each file with Astra Replacing custom in the name.
Went into ED to see if there was an Astra option. No joy - still only a Custom option.

One wonders if I should take the copies and rename to something else as a backup and then just let the Astra keybinding routine do its thing?

Any ideas?

The name displayed is set in line 2 of the binds file, you put the name you want to see in between the first set of quote marks:

e.g:

<Root PresetName="THIS IS THE PLACE TO PUT THE NAME" MajorVersion="1" MinorVersion="8">

The Start.Preset.start file just contains the name of the binds file you have chosen.

So... y'all have helped a bunch already and I'm starting to feel a bit like a pest and kind'a dumb because this ought'a be a no brainer but it's turning out not to be.

I have 3 sets of binding files.
Astra
Custom
X52-MJA

I copied the original Custom to the Astra files and updated line two of each file. At that point when I loaded up ED and went to options->controls, Astra became an option. Then I created the X52-MJA set and set the line two of each of those to X52-MJA.

Loaded up ED and went to controls.

Astra and Custom show up in the select list when going to controls from options. The X52-MJA files all have X52-MJA in line two of the file just like the others have Astra and Custom. But the X52-MJA control key binding does not show up as a selection option.

So either only 2 different binding profiles are allowed by ED or something else has to be done to make other profiles show up.
Ideas...

I just did a test to check, making 4 different named copies of bindings files - all four new named control sets appeared in the options screen where you select your desired controls preset. I then renamed some copied binding files to a name that included a hyphen and even made one called "X52-MJA", all showed up as selectable options so it wasn't an issue with the names.

So it is not a limit in the number of options (all six new ones showed in addition to those I already had) but will possibly be an inadvertent typo-type error?

I thought about typo and did a thorough check prior to posting my last.

I'll go check again.

I'm wondering why there is a .0.8.binds and a .1.8.binds and a plain .binds file.

Thanks for following this MalkYorks

UPDATE: Here's what I did. I knew the Astra files showed up (haven't updated those yet so still the same as the x52MJA config) so I copied them and renamed each to X52-MJA and voila - worked.

Which - just reaffirms my long held belief that problems are usually caused by the nut behind the wheel and not the wheel.

Thanks again MalkYorks and all the rest who helped me with this issue.
