Where is the evolving galaxy?

Wheres the constantly evolving background simulation galaxy?
I loved some of David Brabens vids about his ideas and plans for the game and there was one that really caught my interest (cant find it at the mo) where he was going on about background mechanics and factions fighting over an area and blockades you could help or try to run through.

In my mind ‘background simulation’ meant that all over the galaxy factions would come into conflict and little wars would pop up. In my head I thought they would have some kind of procedural generation where 2 of a systems factions reach a point where they have near equal influence and a war would start between them for supremacy and would cause conflict zones and related missions to be generated within that system (and clear of once a victor has been decided) I would have thought this would mean conflicts would be popping up and changing throughout the galaxy.

Further other than the isolated conflicts between system factions I thought there would be conflicts on a grander scale between the 3 main galaxy factions and we would see them expanding their territories, something like a Federation system has become strong enough to try and expand and take over a neighboring Independent system and must be driven back.

However so far as I can tell there are only the 3 or so ‘Story’ conflicts in the entire galaxy and those have all been manually injected by FD and I don’t know if they have been brought about in anyway by the state of affairs between the systems factions beforehand.

As an example, last time I was there LHS 3447 has two factions that were showing as ‘CIVIL WAR’ but as far as I could tell didn’t mean anything, there were no conflict zones or missions recruiting to help one side or the other.

Now don’t get me wrong im loving the game and playing pretty much non stop but this is the vision I had in my head and im just wondering-

Is this kind of evolving galaxy happening and its just that I have not yet seen it?
Is it the kind of thing they have in mind but its not in there yet?
Are my hopes too high and the only kind of evolution will be the kind FD script and inject themselves like the ‘Story’ conflicts they have at the moment?

Keep and eye on the factions. In lhs 3447 for example, two of the factions with the largets influence are locked in civil war. This should spawn combat zones and give automatic galnet updates genrated by the background simulation, not sure if its workin or bugged yet though because i havent came across any combat zones as of yet.

I remember stumbling across one system where it was at war (wish I would have taken note of the system name). But there were 2 spots, similar to USS's that were labeled "Conflict Zone [High Intensity]" (or something to that effect). I went in one, and it was pure madness. Pythons, Anacondas, Cobras, Eagles... dozens of them and bullets and lasers flying everywhere. My ship wasn't really built for combat, so I didn't stay long. But it was fun to see.

But I think they're still tweaking all the background sim stuff. Plus the galaxy is really, really big (even just the colonized area is huge), so you can't expect a lot of 'excitement' at every location.

As he said its a big galaxy so i would expect there to be more conflicts popping up and cooling off randomly about the galaxy than just the 3 or so they have manually injected.

It currently sounds like the Conflict zone need some work with only 3000 per kill and need to be balanced towards a more reward for bigger ships. It also sounds like the conflict zones are just the two sides spawning ships and duking it out with no direction or objectives, maybe they could inject Assassin mission elite anacondas as an enemy ace.

I hope they also come up with some other scenarios maybe:
Blockade - with transports trying to get from A to B and you have to protect/destroy them and being rewarded for how many make it/dont, maybe a similar with Planetary Assault with dropships heading towards a planet.
Assassinate the General - have and orca with escorts like the wedding barge?

It would be good if they looked into having the instances track and adapt to the number of Commanders on each side so if one side has alot less than the other they start spawning more powerful ships as reinforcements.

These are the kinds of things that evolve over weeks and months, not days.

Sorry that is not true.

There are many variables, eg:

- trading volume to/from each system affects the power of the controlling faction.

- number and type of missions that are completed by players for the various minor factions in a system.

- population of a system is a major factor

2 players in the past week have caused a system to expand because its population was 1,200 (and I think its starting influence in its home system was 99% to begin with, so they got it 100%). Dukes of something or other. There's a thread on it.
