Where is the progress? I dont understand the game mechanics...

Hello pilots,

am i missing something, or is there no real progress in difficulty in this game?

I read a lot about how many options u have in the game and unlimited game size, but I miss one of the most important things in this game. Normally in other games u have areas/levels/maps/opponents/bosses that u can not win against until u got a lot better. It seems this is not part of the game and I fear that it will get very boring after a short time. So far i played for 3 days and it was a lot of fun, but so far, in every solar system and in every planet or spot I warped into, the enemies are the same. There is no challenge or no system/planet/spot that was too difficult so far and I dont even have special weapon and a ship that costs 140k.
I miss areas where u have to buy the best possible equipment to have a chance and when u survive u got a much bigger reward. Sure this should be for several areas with different difficulties. For example in EVE online u got 5 different mission classes from beginner to master (or even only for groups of experts). Then there are wormholes with different difficulty levels and so on. So it was always the goal to get better to be able to fly the next difficulty because of the higher rewards and more interesting fights.

Where the hell is this in this game? It cant be that I already am able to fight the strongest ships in the game after 3 days! Today I fought an anaconda and won...

Please tell me that I am just blind and dont see it in the game because if not, this game will be way too easy after a couple of days and there is not real motivation for bigger/better ships when i can do everything with the third cheapest ship and low class weapons already.

Basically you do random stuff to earn money to unlock cool gizmos, so you can do even more random stuff to unlock even cooler gizmos and somewhere between doing that you can feel proud for your achievements, only to realize later that you achieved nothing. But still had fun.

Rinse and repeat...kapich?

Try USS in Anarchy systems or go to High Intensity War Zones in Civil War systems.

Wy do you need a motivation to get a bigger ship? Infact, why do you want a bigger ship?

Its a freedom game. You can do whatever suits you. if you want to stick with an Eagle, you can, whats the problem? Why should every game have same mechanics?

Looking for challenge? Become a wanted Pirate! Fight several Security Forces ships at once, its all up to you.

Stop demanding game to direct you.

Where do i ask for a direction? I ask for some challenges. And sure I could go and try to fight an anaconda with just one weapon and no shields in the cheapest ship but when u look around in EVERY other game that exists, one goel is always to get better equipment to get better and fight the strong enemies. This is human - its part of our life to mess with better challenges in life... earn more money, drive better car, got bigger house, get stronger, got more free time, ... but its never the way u describe: you suggest me to throw my money away and then try to buy a very cheap car just because there is no better car than mine (just an example).

Games a new born baby.
Right now, before the custom fittings for ships etc comes out, you should be saving for that Lakon 9 because that thing fully loaded out will be a Destroyer.

just got to grind it out, try to find ways to make money before the Devs nerf money making into oblivion.
Sad thing is, all the BetaBoys exploited the rare commodity trading and earn millions within the first couple of days, where as all the newbies like me had no idea what anything was.
I mean the game is cool, but the grindage just went up 10,000 times longer, reputation seems a PITA. I've run missions, killed bounties in one system for days and I still can't get better paying missions.

my conclusion.
Game is still very much Beta testing.
So..just grind your teeth off in solo mode, buy a Viper, upgrade it, put an 8 space cargo bay and a shield cell with 4x gimballed multi cannons, Warrant Kill Scanner, Indiction module. Viper is hands down best combat ship for bounties and it is cheap.

find a nice system with a couple outposts, one with a black market and another with a good fitting arms shop. Outposts don't have police scanning your cargo hold, so it is easy to sell any loot you pick up. Remember to use the Y key in combat and target cargo bay or power generator for quicker kills on bigger ships.

i have parked up in an Independent system, with hardly any police to bother me and lots of juicy Viper, Asp, Cobra Wanteds

you are still testing Beta.... Get over it.

Yeah, after about a week of sustained playing, I have to agree with the OP. There's too much stuff missing, and the game is turning into a bit of a slog - way too much grind, and nothing you do seems to influence the world in any way (either stuff doesn't work at all, or is tuned to only respond to thousands of people)...

to the OP: no there is no advancement in the game, it is what you start with, and no more than that, it doesn't take long to have done all there is in this game unfortunately.

or maybe youre not quite playing it right

for all those totally missing the journey, for gods sake stop racing as fast as you can to mine, trade, bounty hunt and pirate and dust your hands and say 'finished!!' because youve missed the point entirely

Well, the game is designed to get easier the more you play, which I've complained about since beta. As you get bigger ships, they get tougher, you're weapons are either turreted or gimbaled since the hard points are too far apart to be gimballed taking aiming out of the equation. Ships like Anacondas don't even need to turn, they can just turn their shields up to max, have a snack, and occasionally pop a shield cell while they're turrets kill all their foes. Sorry, if you're looking for a challenging game, you came to the wrong place. :(

Ba-dum-pssh... What a surprise that they don't need to turn - they're about as good in turning than oil tankers :p ... Doh.

Please be more careful with your casual use of "all". Being one of your so called BetaBoys [and I guess AlphaBoys and DDFBoys] I took advantage of the rare items exploit BUT i, and a number of my friends, reset at the launch of the game.

Indeed. Being "beta" myself too, but unlike a bunch, I heard of these 'rares' after Release hit the scenery (I sort of skipped forums during gamma completely).
