Hardware & Technical Where to buy Titan black?

You may want to wait for the new AMD stuff as I've heard the rumors buzzing about how excellent it is/will be with DX12

Was this just a ruse to post that April Fool? :p

What?? Have been buying from overclockers.co.uk for as long as I can remember

Thanks guy's, I'll check out Amazon. I get a discount from overclockers, so normally use them

Cheers

Overclockers have them (Titan X) 777D though tbh I think they're way overpriced for gaming unless you plan to use it for pro graphics work as well. Better off with a 980 otherwise.

You'll want the Titan X unless the Black's price became cheaper. When the Black first came out, it was ~$1200USD. The superior Titan X is selling for only $1000.

970 > titan x, price points wrong for titan X its like trying to get the most out of a micra instead of just buying a cheap car with a faster engine :p just get 2x 970's and hit that SLI up.

Edit: faulty comparison, forgot there was a new one, who names this stuff come on Nvidia, would still buy 970 over any card currently :p

Yeah, I use the 980. Still I want to prepare for the Oculus CV1, so I'll need the most grunt available.

Shouldn't the 980 be enough?

I would think so but don't have any experience with the rift. I also don't know the physical specifications of the rift either. I would think if my 980 can push my 27'' screen at 1920x1080 @110+fps in stations then it should get the same FPS on a 7'' screen at the same resolution. But i guess there are other factors involved that lower the FPS?

You could do a hell of a lot better for "grunt" than the Titan Black. It's a joke of a video card. It's pretty much on par with a GTX 780ti. You might be confusing it with the Titan X, which isn't out yet.

The rift runs at 1920x1080, but essentially runs it twice. In stations I get a slight drop in FPS, on my normal screen I get zero lag.

someone else can explain it better than me, it's not exactly running 1920x1080 twice, I think it's a lower resolution combined. Still you need a beast of a system to get it smooth.

Yes, I was confusing the two..see my previous link

edit - are you sure the black is par with the 780TI? The TI was my old card, and remember it would beat the old Titan, isn't the black a souped up version of the original Titan?
