Newcomer / Intro Where to can you buy ship X

So, I want to buy a cobra, but it seems like I just have to dock at random shipyard containing stations and hope that one of them will eventually have a Cobra.

My question is: how do you know what shipyards sell what ships without actually having to go there?

Don't think you can tell, maybe the population value and type of station will give clues. Shouldn't be an issue though, they aren't hard to find.

Basically, you don't know it.

But if you look for systems with hightech and refinery with big populations, chances are high that they have a shipyard that sells >10 ships, the Cobra will usually be on sale, too. Rich worlds with the above specs have 13 ships on sale, havent's seen more until know.

Not wishing to hijack the thread, but does anyone know of a crowd-sourced list of starports that sell good kit? Generally ones that sell 10 or more ships seem to be the best.

I ran across this link, which shows the stations that sell ships and kit. I'll be making some trips shortly! Looking at the spreadsheet, most of the data was input during Gamma release, so some gear and availability may be gone, or different. There's a few weapons that look promising, so I'll head off and report back.

I had been basing my operations out of Cleve Hub in Eravate, which allowed me to buy and "decently" rig everything up through a Viper. I also bought my Cobra and Type 6 there, but it lacked good equipment for them.

While out exploring though, I stumbled across Maridal, which has the biggest selection of ships and gear that I've seen to date. Admittedly I've only visited 60-ish systems so far so I'm sure that's not definitive, but at least for now it will serve me for quite a while.

I'm not sure on the editing. There are some instructions in the upper left-hand corner (in blue)

If anyone wants edit access to expand the data in this spreadsheet, just ask.
1) Click 'Share' button top-right
2) Click 'Request access' in the dialogue bottom-right
3) Enter your details

The Share button is visible on the spreadsheet. I haven't searched these systems yet to confirm the gear. In lieu of the Share button, the author is listed as Athan on the FD forums. Sending a PM change request may do the trick.
