Where to find (mine) Painite please?

I believe a developer mentioned that both Painite and Osmium are far more common in Resource Extraction Sites when they were introduced (along with Low and High Intensity RES sites)....
It earns decent income (Around 2-3 mil an hour) and is by far the most engaging and least mind numbing way of doing so I've found. It is, in fact, fun.

This is 100% true. Mined a medium RES the other day. In a little under an hour I came out with 160T of 3P, and that included 50+ tons of Painite. As I was turning in, my wingmate who had more capacity kept coming in over comms with "Whoa, 40% Painite! Whoa, 35% Platinum!"

Top that all off with the light show and the occasional interruption from NPCs. Pristine Metallic RES mining is where it's at, yo.

So if the RES sites are where to find it, how close do you have to be to the sites? Can you find Painite outside away from the RES too? I've been trying at Delkar in the A ring and finding a crap load of Platinum and Palladium but not a single Painite. I start about 13km from the RES sites and then move away. Should I just stick around the site then instead?

If you are finding platinum and palladium, you are definitely in the metallic ring. So you should be able to find painite as well.

You don't need to be in a RES, but supposedly it is more common in them. You do get a higher number of fragments per roid in a RES. You have to be within 20km of the RES to get this bonus.
But you can get painite anywhere in a ring. If you really need painite, don't get distracted by anything else - even platinum. Just keep prospecting roids until you find it.

Thanks, I managed to find a good 27t of it just by searching around and randomly happening on them so yes, patience was the key and distraction is a big thing too. Now that I have my quota for Selena, I now can just mine for distractions to get the 500t limit.

Thanks for the help...

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me what kind of places I should mine to find Painite? Is it 'Rocky' rings or 'Metal Rich' or 'Metallic'?

Thanks very much.

There's a discord group that sells this stuff if you don't want to mine it. be prepared to hand some Big money for it tough...

Are there Metallic Rings in Deep Space, over 4000 lyrs out and all i've seen are metal rich rings at best? I've found only one metallic ring, what is the RNG on metallic ring?

Ideally mine in a double overlapping Painite hotspot (called Painite2). About 60% of the asteroids in these Painite2 hotspots contain Painite so to get 10 ton should only take a few minutes. Just make sure to drop into the region where they overlap to start mining.

To find one go to the list function of EDTools, type in your current system, under the "Examples (click):" heading click "Double Painite Hotspots", then click the "Go!" button and it will list distances to the known Painite2 hotspots. HIP 21991 1 is the first known and so probably the most famous of these sites.
