Where to find Personal Effects?

I was browsing my XB achievements recently and noticed a few for handing in 1, 10, 25, and 50 Personal Effects. I can't recall seeing any in my 19+ weeks in the game. Degraded Emission USS? Surfce crashes? Where can I find them?

Where there are a lot of dead humans.

I think I often find them in degraded emission signals.

Also, I think they are one of the things to be salvaged in the burning stations.

other than degraded emissions, sometimes "combat aftermath" wreckage, or certain salvage missions usually the illegal "skull" ones.

Yes they are floating around inside the damaged stations in Pleiades.

Good luck picking them up though - everytime I try my cargo hatch fails and then I get multiple fines for dropping cargo inside the station which is full of debris... You think FDEV would of fixed it so that fines for dropping cargo were switched off when a station was under attack!

Wait until Thursday, go into a burning station, take heatsinks and collector limpets.
Should be plenty floating about inside.

There are burning stations now. Might not be on Thursday, depending on what Stephen's cryptic post about timing meant...

Tip-off missions sometimes lead to crash sites where they can sometimes be found (along with black boxes and escape pods)

I've only ever seen them generated by salvage missions - in which case, they are legal. Any "spare" PEs you obtain from mission sites, over and above the ones actually demanded by the mission, can be handed in at S&R.

Fyi, if you're looking specifically for personal effects salvage missions, try factions in outbreak. Other states will give you other items, usually black boxes.

Although I'm intrigued what you want them for other than a token in your hold... they'll be tagged as mission cargo which, iirc, means they're bugged as far as trying to sell them goes.
