Community Event / Creation Where to get pre-ED ship dimensions?

I hope this has not been covered already, <gulp>. I am wanting the dimensions of pre-Elite: Dangerous ships. Not just the overall sizes but the positions of all the corners, (the vertex vectors) , as well. In the section called "Observer's Guide To Ships In Service" from the old BBC version handbook, there are some plan and elevation schematics. These are nice to look at but a wee bit too small to extract accurate data from, even when using vernier calipers for taking measurements.

The plan is, to use this infomation in the 3D renderer POV-ray. First off making wire-frame and mesh models of each ship and then having some fun creating some scenes. If the renders come out okay I will post some, though I make no claims on having much artistic ability.

Which brings me to a second question. Is everyone who posts an image in the ED forum(s?) holding those pics on their own website or is there some other way of doing this? I understand Frontier will only host your avatar and signature.

Are you aware of Oolite? I believe the core ships in Oolite 1.77.1 conform to the original BBC Elite dimensions, and the internal .dat and vertex files etc may be what you seek.

Success! I have the 1st ship (Cobra MkIII of course) rough rendered in all its 20 facet glory! <idiot grin>

I down loaded Oolite as Cody suggested and peeked inside the data files within the Model directory. The text in the files initially looked a right old mess but someone has kindly labelled the vertex and face data, making extraction with a text editor fairly straight forward.

Thanks for everyones input.
