Where to mine Osmium?

Pristine metallic mate. You'll get it in others, but in my experience it was the most reliable, and you get lots of other sexy stuff too for your time and efforts.

I am only talking about laser mining though in this case, I'm not even sure if you get osmium cores, but someone may have a better idea on that.

Are you doing the one for 50t of the stuff? If so, you can always look to gimp the game and try carriers near the engineer, but that's your call, and I hesitated before writing this - but someone will tell you if not me!!

If you get thoroughly stuck, pm me and I'll see if anyone in the squadron has any or is near a ring to help out. To be honest though, find a pristine metallic, ignore hotspots (irrelevant here) and go for laser mining. Depending on your ship, stick at least two collector controllers in it (total 4 or 6 if possible), and go nuts. Get an a rated prospector too. Go for a refinery with 6 bins minimum if you can, as you'll make a fair amount with the 3PO and gold drops too.

Good luck man o7

I need this for an engineer and edtools says any pristine metal rich or metallic. Well does one have a better chance than the other?
You can buy it from my carrier, Tornado of Souls presently parked near the star in HIP 52091, otherwise mine it in the painite double hotspot in Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 planet 2, where you can get platinum, palladium and painite to make it worthwhile.

If you're looking for it for Marsha Hicks, then two conveniently close pristine metallic rings are the one outside Jaques Station, and the one outside Templar Barracks in Randgnid. (In both cases, there are two rings around the gas giant, and you want the inner one)

There's no such thing as an Osmium hotspot, so don't bother looking - just dive into the inner ring any old place and start throwing out prospectors at the nearest rocks (you don't need a Pulse Wave). If you're in the right ring, you should find Osmium in a fairly high percentage of the rocks, so just laser it out there. Recommended equipment:
- 1A prospector
- 2A refinery
- 3A collector and medium mining laser (double this if your ship has space)
- you shouldn't need more than about 20 limpets, though it depends how lucky you get with the prospecting
Three or four Osmium-containing rocks should be all you need to find.

As the other guys have said, bear in mind the distance. As you've been searching carrier access, make sure you're looking at carriers in the right area.

Iirc, Bromellite is for the bubble guy, and osmium is the colonia one. I still recommend mining yourself though, as you'll learn more about flying the ship around obstacles for future scrapping, but I'm not here to tell you not to gimp the game - it's of course up to you.

And you're welcome btw, hope this helps :)

Ps memory is tricking me, osmium could be a bubble one too. I'm too tired.
