Since Elite was released, I've seen a HUGE drop-off in both missions available in the Bulletin Boards, and the associated payouts for them. I've traveled to many different star systems in the last week and each has presented me with 1-3 low paying missions. (1000-4000 credits). Even in systems that have 4-5 ports and 1.5 billion inhabitants seem to be the same. Any ideas? I have a hauler and 200K credits (mostly from exploring!). Thinking of just trading it in for an Eagle and zapping NPC rats for a while. Any suggestions?

Could it just be that you have nuetral or poor reputation with everyone at the moment? I'm sure I've noticed a higher amount of BBs as my rep grows.
I agree with you, the bulletin boards seem to have dropped off. Even in systems where I am allied, the BB is scarce. Why not have a blast at bounty hunting, you can always buy back into exploration, if it doesn't work out for you. I've made a couple of million this way, and invested it back in to my Viper.
I've seen several stations without ANY missions on the BB. Not missions on the bottom that are inaccessible to me, but a blank screen.
Yes, my rep is just plain vanilla neutral right now. But I'm not even seeing many missions that are unavailable.
As for exploration, that seems to be my best bet right now. Was thinking of hitting around 300K or so and then just kitting out an Eagle as best I can and hunt NPC's.
I'm not really complaining, just that I got used to much higher payouts and more frequency of missons in beta and gamma.

If you're correct, then I would expect there to be plenty of unavailable missions, but these are either few, or non existent.
Yes, and this includes empty BB's at stations in Vega, where I have been waiting for Federation Progression mission.
My rep is friendly to the federation and even docking in federation systems where I also have friendly rep with the station I only get a handful offered now. I have had some stations with no missions on the bulletin board at all.

I'm friendly in Sorbago. I was there to take warzone and pirate hunting missions to help out with the Empire faction.
I stayed for a number of days and did what I could. I eventually gave up and moved on. BB missions were often very few, sometimes non-existant. The occasional flurry of missions would appear, but then fizz out. Those that did appear were often trade/deliver missions. Its a war zone damnit! Increase the warzone mission rate! Increase the pirate hunting mission rate!
Anyway, enough of my rant. I'm now back to trading. Its far more profitable than combat missions as far as I can tell. Warzone missions earn squat. Pirate hunting missions can occasionally be decent payers, but far less consistent than finding a few good trade runs.
