Newcomer / Intro Where's a good spot to establish a "home base"?

So, I've gotten into an Eagle. Figuring out how to make a little more coin. Looking forward to getting a Viper soonish. So, I'm looking for recommendations on where to start parking my old ships.

As you apparently plan on leaning towards combat, you should look for a sector with a few extraction systems (with ringed planets with extraction sites) or/and some anarchy systems where you can find some juicy targets, too. (You'll need a Kill Warrant Scanner, though)

High Tech system with a high population is usually my choice as they usually have a well stocked ship yard and outfitting. They also tend to fall at the end of a good trade route which is always a bonus.

I agree and I would also choose a system off the "beaten path" that has low player traffic. Unless, you like to wing up and share the bounties.

I'd say I found a great system (at least while playing solo, don't know about live verse), but the shipyard doesn't sell the Viper in LTT7421 :( At least I've been collecting plenty of bounties hanging out at the Nav Beacon!

in Federation space, try LTT 3572 or LHS 317 - their stations are quite close to the main star, they each have a good outfitters, a black market, and a RES on your doorstep. i'm still searching for the 'perfect' Alliance and Empire systems to match these two

i'm pretty sure i bought my Viper from LHS 317's yard, dunno if LTT 3572's yard has them

Vipers are pretty widely-sold, so even if there's no Viper in an otherwise good system, I'd be inclined to stay and make a short trip in a Sidey (AKA the crazy taxi) to a nearby system to buy one.

I recommend:

> Large population, wealthy
> High tech or industrial with extraction concerns so you have local RESes to bounty-hunt in. High-tech and industrial systems have the best shipyards and outfitters when they have a large population.
> Independent system with a faction from one of the major players so you can cash bounties.
> at least three factions in total so you can engage in the politics by taking missions and helping your faction (allied status gets you better prices in the outfitters)

9,000 ly outside 'known' space , it's very relaxing out here , I can play planet pool into the nearby black holes and tend my onionhead garden in peace.
