"where's my target?" Idea.

I have an idea to add a touch of "realism" and simplification.

In RL you don't watch in front of you the whole time when driving/piloting any vehicle/ship/airplane.
I.E. When driving you look the road, you look where you are going and when turning you make the car follow the direction you want to go. When piloting you look at runway you want to land on, etc.

My idea is to add a key bind to rotate your visual (NOT your ship!!) towards your current target. Pressing the key again will toggle to center again.
This way you can keep your target centered and then follow with the ship. Like it really is for real pilots.

This is useful for combat, but not only for that. Lining up for stations, in example.

Another simulator had this feature and it was very funny, immersive and useful, for me.

What do you think?

???? i don't understand... You can freely moving your head/ view independently from controling your ship direction... If you are talking about a auto target head tracking, i'm not OK with this kind of feature.

I don't really see an issue with this. People with TrackIR, a joystick, and voice controls all have an advantage anyway. This would at least give the opportunity to lessen that gap.

It's normally called Padlock in flight sims. Great feature but presumably it was left out for a better reason than "we can't fit it on the controller".

I'd like the padlock feature from sims. At least for now while I don't have trackIR or a rift.
Currently I don't even own a desk, chair, or joystick.
I'm just sat on my ass in front of the TV like all the Xbox players out there. Lol

Right, consolle owners can use any keyboard.
So, which reason that could possibly be?
I don't see any drawback in that feature.

Amazing

The game already has "headlock"..... just use that

(default is MMB... press... look around... press again... center view)

I need a third hand to use it in combat. Or i can try to move the mouse with my chin. :D
Why no one looks at signatures and mistake me for a noob?

I looked.... you're a noob :)
Because I like to have many ships, try all that the game has to offer, slowly, instead of rushing to a Anaconda?
Lol. I don't think so. Instead it gives to me a good insight. I could even develop this game.

Sorry, m8. Trolling attempt failed.

If you pose a question

Why no one looks at signatures and mistake me for a noob?

and don't like a light hearted, obvious answer... why do silly people always asume a troll ?

sorry, m8... u need a chill pill :)

on topic... I don't think you'll see a auto track option anytime soon ...

You could have added that you're using a stick.

You are right. I forgot to mention it. I tend to assume that for granted, which is not always true. :(

Sorry, but i didn't see anything funny. And a smiley means nothing, as trolls always use them.

Maybe, but still fighting trolls since 1995. And i am a little tired of them.

Pity. Really.

yes +1 for padlock
I rarely bother setting up freetrack or facetracknoir when playing because it's a hassle, and use all the hats on my Warthog for other game functions, so having a button to toggle padlock view of target would be great.

Signatures (and avatars) are the first thing I turn off on every forum I register for: they're the most irritating self-serving nonsense, and the most annoying thing about browsing a forum is a post from a person who fully quotes a long OP, adds the text "lol" or similar, and then has a massive signature; all taking up a lot of screen space for zero value.
(I'm not saying your signature's like that, because I've never seen it :))

I see your point. And you could think that of mine too, I suppose.
But I write my "accomplishments" there to show that it's some time that I play.
Mainly because I don't like answers like "there a button that does it, but you are too to have found it, you know?".
But it doesn't work well.
I usually write on forums only about thing that need developers intervention or for discussions, the rest I discover alone. I almost never ask about help.
And if I do, I very clearly ASK how a thing is done. ;)
I never hint ignorance. And I hate ignorance. I research. :)
