Newcomer / Intro Where's my terrain radar/landing plate thing-a-ma-jig?

Been away. I'm missing something or I've broken my game. They didn't get rid of the terrain radar landing/radar iconography right? The 'thing'(Vert line+disky thing under yer ship-holo on the radar) when yer close to landing on the surface? Mine isn't showing up so I'm relying solely on the HUD's vertical/horizontal position indicator. Or am I doing it wrong? Landing I mean. I thought It was supposed to show up when yer close enough to the surface and yer gear is down? Mine Isn't or did they get rid of it? I've just come back, but haven't landed on a planet in well over a year. I feel like it's me and I've just forgotten something. or broke ED. I was (as u can see) using EDHM UI, so I thought that might be it. So I went back to the default Eye-bleedingly Orange and it's still not showing. Please tell me I'm just thick and I've forgotten something basic. I'm at least used to that o7.

EDIT: Side note FYI. It is/was working fine at stations, but in the black at the mo, so can't test at a station till I get to one or an FC. Will test there once arrived.

Are your sensors powered up?

That is usually why things don’t show up in contacts.
Wow. Thanks. I just popped into say ya, it's always me as usual. You are correct. I found this from EIGHT YEARS AGO..

Sure enough, I had not reactivated my sensors after using the AMFS or whatever its called. Such a tool. I'd get fdev to del this thread out of embarrassment, but I'll leave it. If my stupidity can prevent another CMDR from losing an hour or more of their life that's all to the good.

Obviously once the sensors were re-activated the contacts showed up and more to the point all THE LANDING ICONOGRAPHY CAME BACK ONLINE!! Yeesh

Good to see you owning your mistakes... way to many change the text to a dot, when they say or ask something dumb. Almost as annoying as the ones who have a problem and come back on saying "Fixed it" with no further info.

Not that I find what you did dumb, only yesterday I spent 10 minutes speaking australian at my SCO drive to suddenly realise, oh, that's right I repaired you and need to turn you back on.

Pro tip (in case you didn't know this already): If you are ever in a situation where the sensors aren't working because they are broken, ie. at 0% health (which can happen for example if your ship overheats for long enough, which can happen eg. when you aren't careful when fuel-scooping or using SCO), you can select the "reboot/repair" option in the ship's right panel to restore a percentage of health to the sensors, allowing you to then dock for repairs.

(Note that "reboot/repair" will shut down everything for about 10 seconds, so don't use it if you have less than 10 seconds of o2 left. Highly unlikely for this kind of scenario to happen, but it's good to know.)

"We learn by doing." Admiral J T Kirk. (I'm such a nerd lol).

I'm just grateful I can get back to "Clean Slate" Theme on EDHM UI. The ORANGE is too much.

Ty, I did use it (reboot/repair) a lot in the Thargoid war, but I leave games for long hiatuses..eseses? and forget everything so it's a good reminder.
