Newcomer / Intro Where's Wald... Clark?

I took amiision offered through the message system to pick up some data file from Clark in a nearby system. Then I needed to deliver it to a third system. Simple enough and I wouldn't bother except the offered about 900K CR and I'm saving up to buy a new ship. So, I leave off collecting Mats from a planet with some rare ones, and FSD out to meet up with Clark.

The local beacon is green, as I expected. After fumbling around a while to try getting info out of the thing, it stops being green and I get a message about a mission source deeper in system. I SC over and it's someone want me to source some Urani-something. Not what I was signed on for, so I refuse it. Then I open the galaxy map to set up for my next destination and...

The mission marker hasn't moved. I can't find anything to tell me where I might find Clark; the beacon is normal color so I don't know if it still has info. Did I miss it?

It's the first time I've taken a three part data mission so I have no idea how it's supposed to work. I just feel like I'm missing something.

I would appreciate any clues, becuse I obviously don't have one.

It's a long time ago I did such a mission. IIRC the contact should be flying in supercruise and ask you to follow its low wake. Sometimes it takes a while before they show up. Dropping to normal space and then re-entering supercuise helps to draw them out. Sometimes you need to repeat the drop/re-enter cycle a few times.

Yeah as Krieger said.

Theyre probably supposed to grab you as you jump in but sometime beating them to the Nav Beacon means they throw a huff and refuse to talk for a bit. You can try dropping out of SC and waiting up to 5 mins as well, often they will drop in within a minute or two.

That's who that was!

This guy kept showing up on my text board saying I should follow him... I thought he was one of those non-messages, like being the Number 1 Cruise Ship...

Thanks. It's a 24 hour mission so I'll go out and try to find him again.

Mission sources are coloured blue by default on XB in the Nav Panel. The Trading Beacon mission also shows up as Blue. I think thats what was meant.

The mission description will usually tell you if you specifically need equipment, however, it's usually optional.

If "Clark" jumps to a different system, then a Wake Scanner certainly helps, however if you don't have one, after he jumps, check the Galaxy Map...it should show a mission symbol on the next system you need to go to.

Also, mission objective in the left panel should also update to tell you what's next.

Cheers
