It is noticeably quieter when I use ED. The 390 used to rank up the fan noise as soon as i started it. This just seems to stay constant.

Set a custom fan curve.. you want 80% fan at 78c, set your power target to 115% - your temp target at 78c - your clock +150Mhz and your Mem clock +200Mhz : this should give you a boost of around 2000core/5500mem while keeping your card cool. The factory fan curves on these 1080's arent set aggressive enough and ill guarantee your card is hitting 82+ and throttling.

I'm running factory fan setting with factory OC mode enabled. I never get temps above 65 C, and I'm running the card at full pelt in VR (struggling to maintain 90 fps).

If I were to buy a 1080 now I'd go for the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X. Superior cooling, rugged construction, very reliable.
