Which 3.3 concerns/issues were acted upon?

So here's a list of some issues raised with exploration and mining I'm aware of. I lost track during beta if these were addressed?

Exploration
  • Being able to enter the System Map directly from the FSS? [Yes/No]?
  • Being able to Supercruise while in the FSS? [Yes/No]?
  • Additional HUD elements in FSS to give you some situational awareness? eg: Just a basic scanner included to see other ships? [Yes/No]?
Mining
  • Module overload for Mining - Combine Subsurface Missiles with Seismic Charges into a single module, which then appear as the two individual mining tools (as currently) in Fire Groups? [Yes/No]?
  • Give a more clear indication of efficiency of Subsurface Missiles and with Seismic Charges? eg: Even just a percentage value reported? [Yes/No]?
  • Improve PWS so it highlights what you're looking for instead of just "here's new mechanics". ie: Be able to click the list of materials you want the heat map for, and asteroids are highlighted accordingly (irrespective of legacy, surface, subsurface and/or fissures)? [Yes/No]?
  • Improve payout/quantity of new mechanics (surface, subsurface and/or fissures)? [Yes/No]?

Any folks aware of if/what was done on these fronts?

Give it time

It's been up and down like a flute-player's eyebrows, so give people time to try things out to see if any of that is needed.

'course, if there were copilot NPCs who actually could take over, and you could move to another station (even via teleport spells) so as to leave the captain's couch available, you could let Doofus McAI deal with most of those external problems while you play the FSS minigame.
EDIT: to clarifty, some of them may be made moot by another change, hence not needed, others will have been changed, maybe, makin asking about it moot *once someone has gotten around to try it*. And others have never made the complaints and suggestions, so this OP's list will be the first time they've seen it.

And maybe there are workarounds or alternative ways of doing things that will also make the complaints/suggestions moot without having actually to have changed them.

I didn't mean the minimal meaning of "moot" alone.

Jazz flute?

Don't expect significant changes with the live release, so more interested in what was piled in during the beta in reaction to comments? ie: What was done in response to our valuable Beta testing and input? ;)

Is the PWS still a "here's new mechanics scanner" for example?

But that's exactly what happened, people tried things out thoroughly during beta, concluded that some stuff is needed and posted about it on the forums.

The question is, did any changes make the production build, or is the production build simply the last beta build, moved to production?

For someone who has sparingly glanced over the issues raised in the beta and over the release notes, let alone compare them, I too am curious about the question raised by the OP. I would have assumed that with the servers down and all, there would be some enthusiasts to check and answer this.

Or...
All yr points were considered and dismissed ignored.
;)

Seriously though, the PWS from the moment beta opened was getting comments from testers... And if it's gone through all of beta and now entered the live game without a bit of rethink that's bemusing...

And likewise, if we still can't even enter say the Galaxy Map from the FSS? Bizarre! And can we Supercruise in FSS now or not? This was another things that was raised by a lot of folks from day 1 in the beta basically?

I see the Mamba's undercarriage still displays as being extended until after you enter SC.

Pretty sloppy to see that's made it into the live-build. [sad]

I guess it's flute like in the last Alien presequel when the droïd do the fingering.

The beta was as far I I understood was to test the new features and provide feedback and report bugs - not make game design decisions.

I am sure the feedback has been seen and discussed, its doubtful if there was time to add any significant change to a feature let alone add new 'make the game easy for me' modules and keep the release timescale.

Yeah, which is why I voiced many of my concerns prior to the beta as well, despite the usual wait and see type responses from some.

I'm not in too much of a rush though and don't mind waiting for these things to be addressed, provided they actually are, of course. Having the LEP, I'm in it for the long haul either way.

I know the for frontier standards intense pr communication offensive to state the otherwise.. but really? Why would they bother if they genuinely don't work that way.

Even reflecting back on my own experiences.. there was a time when i was less naive (ie invested in elite) and frontier only bothered with combat related changes, stuff i didn't care about. This combination allowed a privileged viewpoint to observe how frontier works.. it was plain as day obvious that frontier are 100% an ivory tower based developer, there is actually no community input. The only scope that the community literally has is if frontier come out and ask explicitly about it (eg, ship transfer delay) or if reddit are roused enough for someone in marketing to click there is a pr issue. That's it.. that's all that's ever moved frontier from the community side.

Sadly with 3.4.. i was personally silly enough ignore all this because.. being much more invested i saw the feedback forum as something to do, and they were working on non combat. But regardless of being in a whirlpool inside my own head, frontier have been perfectly consistent in how they build elite.

Think about it for a min. All the stuff frontier come out and claim are their swooning responses to our feedback is fluff / balance passes they were going to do anyway. I guess you could consider LEP users free skins as the drop of blood from years of squeezing the stone..

Anyways, the point is not to be emo about it, its to change expectations to how it is, and call out the community management. It completely hoodwinks less interested or new players into thinking frontier are a chummy community focused developer, but they are literally not. Actions.. not words are better read.

Although several weeks seems like a long time, it probably isn't when you have to program/test the changes. Same with previous betas, lots of things fixed, but not much in the way of revised features. A few but not a lot, seems these come in later iterations if Frontier agree with community, else they keep rollin' lol.

Hope they have listed out the big hitters though, and look to work through them in the new year.

System map access via FSS would be awesome, likewise a roll axis in the FSS. Two main ones I would like to see.
