Which body? Small patch of bright stars

I'm looking for the body name of a patch of bright stars.
Looks like a small, compact line of bright stars, bright enough to look like a small rip in the black.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? I have SS, but I'm at work at the moment.
It gets larger when you head towards the north american nebula.

I know that one well.. Was quite a exploring trip when I went there. It's all tagged but still worth the trip.scan around 8 or so black holes and more neutron stars,,tight packed bunch of blue giants.
NGC 7822 check that on Galmap with realistic view.
Nebula is quite far off. 2800 lyrs from home,so may have another 1000 more to go if you're near n.American nebula

I've heard it can be hard to reach unless you have 25LY jump range or higher, bear that in mind before you head out there. :)

Yep,,correct there. the last 250 lyrs thins out a lot.
Around 10 or 15 jumps it's a narrow path. I think had my asp at the time, with around 27-28 lyr range..

Same here. Saw the bright shiny lights, had to make a detour, but my Asp made it easily enough.

I did find a huge problem getting past it out to the rim, I didn't realise how much I'd climbed up and you have to drop back down to the Galactic plane right after NGC 7822 or you'll hit a proverbial wall.

I saw that when I was headed to the Sadr Region, and just like you, I was like, "What the hell is that?!" I detoured off my chosen route and made a beeline for it. It is a really spectacular nebula, and even though all the stars in it have been discovered, it's worth scanning all the S171 blue giant systems. A bunch of huge O5V stars and black holes.

Yeah, that one's been making my explorer sense tingle the last few days as well. Come to me, it whispers, but the CG, I reply...

This thing above the planet, right?

Yeah, it was driving me nuts trying to figure out what the hell that was, mostly because I couldn't find it on the galaxy map. I'm not heading that way, though, so checking it out wasn't something I really wanted to do. Maybe some other time.

Some big screenshots of NGC 7822. Probably one of the most beautiful places I've visited so far in Elite. Worth the trip.

I'm gently heading that way myself.... just getting back to where I left off the last trip first and I'll keep on motoring in that general direction. It's like a beacon isn't it?
