Which client am I supposed to be using?

Though I was keeping my game up to date, I haven't played for ages since accidentally being trolled by one of those Gold Trap missions.
My anger at the stupidity of those Gold Trap signals has waned and I wanted to have a bit of a play around again leading up to the Horizons launch.

The problem is.... I just don't know which game I should be playing.

I assumed it would be the "Elite Dangerous (32-Bit)", however it's asking me to install it rather than simply update what I had (I was keeping the game current).

My options are:
Install - Elite Dangerous (32-Bit)
Install - Elite Dangerous: Horizons Beta (2.0)
Upgrade - Elite Dangerous - Ships Beta (1.5) - 32-Bit
Install - Elite Dangerous - Ships Beta (1.5) - 64-Bit
Install - Single Player Combat Training

My game was current until the recent launcher update.

Now, I assumed that to continue my game, I would pick the top option, but that appears to be saying I don't have the game installed at all.
The 1.5 Beta is giving me an upgrade option, which I thought might be to update my game, but then it's the Beta. I don't want to play without any progress.

Does anyone know which version of Elite is just the game I can play to continue my old game?
And if it is the top option... am I installing it again from scratch for some reason?

It's really looking like I should just wait until 1.5 or Horizons is out and install the 64-Bit client then.
Anyone have any insights?

If you just want to continue your old game:

Install - Elite Dangerous (32-Bit)

If you want to test new features and give feedback, install/upgrade one of the beta options. Beta has a separate database/save which doesn't affect your main save.

If you don't want to have to download again in a week or 2 (or whenever Horizons goes live) then wait.

As spork said above here, if you want the current live client, you'll want to download and install the Elite Dangferous (32 bit) client.

If you're feeling the urge to try out the latest and greatest of Elite Dangerous, you'll want to select one of the two Elite Dangerous Ships beta or the Horizons beta.

Awesome. Thank you both for the responses.
Ok, so the 32-bit one is the correct one (like I suspected). If I've got to install it from scratch for some reason, then I'll wait until the 64-bit client is official so I only install it once... again... =)

Many thanks to you both.

The problem with this is you end up with 2 installs taking up disk space because it didn't detect your original. People been asking about this in support but no help , not good if your on limited SSD space.
I did this and now have 2 game folders :FORC-FDEV-D-1001 & FORC-FDEV-D-1010 , both taking up 4.9GB.:(

Just delete the version you don't play?

well yes , but that raises the question we been trying to get answered ; as file -1010 is the one its playing from , but as a PBeta guy my game is supposed to be installed in the -1001 file; will this then cause problems later on as it doesn't consider me a PBeta player just a normal one from the install local? see here https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=108 for info about the file folders and what their numbers identify

Crikey, am I supposed to see all 5 of those? I only see 3. I have the lifetime pass.

I don't see the 1.5 Betas. It doesn't really matter as I can't see any reason to access 1.5 beta instead of the 2.0 better. If 1.5 beta is still available then why have the 1.5 forum sections been archived?

I don't see them all either. I Have Elite 32bit, Horizons Beta(2.0) and Combat Training Demo.

Yes, I'm PBeta, and I'm in the same boat.

My ED folder has always been: FORC-FDEV-D-1001

The launcher is showing me an "Install" action on Elite Dangerous (32 Bit)... but I never uninstalled that. I was playing it the night before Horizons dropped.

I really don't want a parallel installation of ED 1.4 in some "FORC-FDEV-D-1010" folder, next to the other one. And... will it mess up later, if this is a fault, and is subsequently rectified?
