I've already listed some animals I'd love to see for an
Oceania pack in this thread here, but I'd also enjoy an African DLC or North American DLC, or even a European one (although admittedly I'm not as excited by the idea of the European DLC). I think my picks would be, assuming DLC packs of seven habitat species:
African DLC (in no particular order):
Meerkat: very cute, a zoo staple, could be so much fun to watch and design habitats for, highly requested.
White rhinoceros: another zoo favourite that's been highly requested, but black rhinoceros would work too. Mostly I'd just love another rhinoceros option and I personally love the look of white rhinos.
Fossa: I'd like more small species for the game and I think they're a very neat, unique option.
Cape penguin: I think they've got a great look, another penguin for the game would be terrific, and I'd prefer this (or fairy penguin, from the Oceania pack) to another Antarctic species because I love that
environmental diversity.
Crested porcupine: another species unlike pretty much anything else in the game right now. I personally feel it's a long shot because I don't know how well Frontier's shader could manage the spines and detail, but you never know.
Kudu/oryx/addax: I know this is probably contentious as there's already quite a few in the game and a lot of people prefer carnivores, but something like a Greater kudu, Scimitar-horned oryx, or addax would be nice in my opinion for rounding out safari vibes with a large antelope and would add some wow factor with those big horns (and another desert species, in the latter two cases).
Lemur: I can't really pick one I'd like most, so I sort of have three in mind I'd like--the indri, aye-aye, or sifaka. I think each brings something fun: the indri being the biggest lemur and pretty iconic; the sifaka has such an interesting kind of locomotion and is a desert-dwelling primate; and the aye-aye for how wonderfully peculiar it is and how different from the two lemurs already in the game.
As alternatives to the crested porcupine and greater kudu, I'd also be very happy with a brown hyena or striped hyena, and a baboon species or gelada respectively! Some people might prefer to switch the fossa for a ratel and I wouldn't be heartbroken about that, although I think I would prefer the fossa myself.
Edit: forgot to mention that the Southern ground hornbill would be
very cool and I'd be happy for that to be substituted for the antelope or porcupine!
North American DLC (also in no particular order):
Moose: they're such an iconic North American species and it'd be gorgeous to have some of these giants in the game.
American beaver: now that we have aquatic animals, this feels like an obvious choice. I think their habitats could be really interesting and unique.
Wolverine: it was a species I was surprised not to see in the tundra pack, and I think it'd be a great mustelid addition for the game--especially considering it's the world's largest.
American alligator: I know a lot of people have had enough of crocodiles and such, but these guys appeal to me a lot because their habitats are so different to those we already have. Their tolerance for cold could be super interesting (and useful!) mechanically and I'm curious to see what Frontier would do with this animal.
Nine-banded armadillo: a small North American/South American animal that I think would be charming and would fill that "little creature" niche that the game doesn't have totally covered yet (in my opinion).
Roadrunner: another really distinctive, interesting North American species that would be super fun to watch and build habitats for, and also I think the game could stand to have more (ground-dwelling) birds.
Mountain lion: I know many people are requesting the Canada lynx but the way I see it is that the mountain lion is a really recognisably North American carnivore, leaving a space for the Eurasian lynx in a European pack, since I think it would be a bit much to put two cats into one DLC for this one.
