Horizons Which Fighter Does the AI Utilize the Best

I have some fighter/hanger questions for the community:

1) Which fighter is the most effective in the hands of the AI, the taipan, imperial fighter, or condor (and their respective variants)?
2) Is there any point to the class 7 over the class 6 hanger?
3) Is it worth it to hire a harmless crew-member and level him/her?

Thank you for any input people can offer.

My assistant prefers the Taipan, it is the first one I kick out the door. without the boost is is not much faster than my Conda, but hit the boost and off it goes. How fast is fast enough in a turning war? It can stay right on the belly of a ship while I work them over from another direction. Overall stronger, and I pick the plasma with chaff option. Nice to start puking chaff when about the only thing in a natball that has a chance of hitting is a turreted weapon. I like the damage too 45 I believe. Hangs in a fight really well. I defiantly have changed my tactics since the addition of them.

I use Taipan for fights and the imperial fighter for POIs, canyon racing and stuff. I fired my expert crew and leved up a harmless pilot (took me a while to find one with a nice bio and pretty face ;)) . She's ranked dangerous now. And have to pay her only 2% [up]

In my experience, they're all about the same in the hands of the AI.

Other than differences in speed/cockpit design, there are no noticeable differences in their handling, at least as far as I can tell.

Thank you for the replies, I guess I have decided to take a high dps Taipan as a survivable heavy hitter and either a Imperial Fighter or Condor as a zippy second option. I'm still trying to meet a crew member to level that fits my liking[wink].

Hey there! Question #1 is hard for me. A wingman and I were at the Alien Ruins site and decided to let our crewmembers have-at-it. Mine was an Expert(leveled from Mostly Harmless) Taipan (fixed beams/Heat sink launcher) and his was a Mostly Harmless Condor (fixed multicanon/chaff). When we told them to attack from real close, mine took out his. However, when we told them to attack from 5km+ away, his took out mine. His crewmember was able to compensate for the Condor's weak vertical thrusters on the surface, even at Mostly Harmless combat rating.

Question #2, I found in combat zones my crewmember would go through fighters fast, and a size 6 hanger would deplete before my weapon ammo would. Equipping a size 7 seemed to let me stay in longer.

Question 3#, For me yes. Starting from a mostly harmless crewmember ends up being cheaper in the long run because their pay starts lower. Helping them increase rank doesn't take too long either, just an hour or two in a High res in a high sec system (like Sol) can gain them several ranks. If you carry around engineer cargo through high security systems you're bound to get a lot of pirate attention and help from system security :D I role-play a bit, and so I found a buddy with the same first name as me in Maia. Got him all ranked up so that I had a good feeling hopping in the fighter and having a Deadly Corvette watch my back[up]
